Accountable Manager- Director of Maintenance

Position Summary

MAG is currently looking for a dynamic individual to become the Accountable Manager for our FAA Part 145 Repair Station at our Mission Integration Division in Titusville, Florida.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Duties include, but not limited to:

  • General management of day-to-day operations for Part 145 Repair Station including direct engagement with FAA (FSDO & MIDO) in Florida.
  • Responsible for management of modification and repair of multiple aircraft types, including Part 23, 25, & 27 aircraft.
  • Must work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing and Program Management to ensure schedule and certification milestones are met.
  • Must work closely with and collaborate pro-actively with aircraft maintenance team to ensure procedures are being followed.
  • Be the point of contact for bid and proposal work as it relates to aircraft modification and repair.
  • Ensure that Safety and Security is integrated within all business processes thereby promoting compliance and enabling the development of a positive safety culture.
  • Work with business unit leaders on the planning and development of the department's capability and market focus to ensure the center has the correct tooling, training, systems and talent to provide the highest service level possible.
  • Regularly interact with customers to promote capabilities and to measure the level of customer satisfaction.
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with local regulatory authorities, customers, and vendors to ensure continued growth and successful operation.
  • Support Director of Operations in planning, developing, and implementing new methods and procedures designed to improve customer service and operational efficiency, minimize operating cost, and ensure greater utilization of labor and materials.
  • Embed the Company's Vision, Mission, and Values into all policies and practices.
  • Create, maintain and direct Quality Control functions with a strong focus on required audits, and inspect to sustain and continually improve the Quality Management System to satisfy all Regulatory, AS9100, AS9102 First Article Inspection.
  • Schedule, perform and provide guidance to Functional Managers on all required audits.
  • Continually improve processes related to Quality, business goals, and objectives.
  • Read and interpret Quality processes and audits, Manufacturer's Maintenance manuals, Service Bulletins, technical data, and other specifications.
  • Responsible for the development, training and standardization of all employees to all quality requirements and audits as needed.
  • Inspect to meet established inspection times without compromising Quality.
  • Meet Quality auditing goals, objectives and established corporate quality requirements.
  • Responsible for the quality of audits and schedule adherence, as well as ensure quality fabricated parts, sub-assemblies and installations and/or repairs to structure components and avionics.
  • Ensure that appropriate levels of Quality and compliance are met for all assigned work in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Provide Quality engineering assistance in fabrication, technical and Quality support as required.
  • Perform manufacturing and maintenance Quality activities for the effective management of organizational goals and objectives, configuration and document controls, work package execution, standard metrics within the department, and product quality.
  • Verify that the specifications, manuals and other data used during inspection procedures are current and approved for use by FAA Repair Station.
  • Maintain positive professional relationships with peers, licensor's, customers, and regulatory authorities.
  • Lead qualified individuals and direct report employees to duties as assigned including leading teams as required.
  • Follow Environmental Health and Safety Policy.
  • Follow applicable Federal Regulations such as CFR 43, 65 & 145.
  • Verify the status of calibrated tools to ensure that tools that are out of calibration are not used.
  • Verify expiration dates on materials to ensure that materials that are expired are not used.
  • Review work packages in depth to ensure that all required documents are included in the work order package and the package is complete.


Minimum Requirements
  • Must be a licensed airframe and power-plant mechanic and either have:
    • 3 years of experience within the past 6 years maintaining aircraft as a certificated mechanic, including, at the time of appointment as Director of Maintenance, experience in maintaining the same category and class of aircraft as the certificate holder; or
    • 3 years of experience within the past 6 years repairing aircraft in a certificated airframe repair station, including 1 year in the capacity of approving aircraft for return to service.
  • Must have comprehensive understanding of Federal Aviation Regulations, piston and turbine powered aircraft operations, maintenance practices, integration, aircraft scheduling and dispatch. The ability to read, write, and fluently speak and understand the English language.
  • Analyze, interpret, and explain documents such as governmental regulations, installation, and operating instructions and specifications, safety rules, and procedures.
  • Ability to write comprehensive reports, documents, and correspondence.
  • Perform advanced calculations, prepare and understand routine financial and inventory reports, and budget forecasts.
  • Must be able to effectively present information to and communicate with groups of customers, vendors, and employees.
  • Specialized trade, vocational or technical training beyond high school

Other Qualifications
  • Must able to perform work in variable weather and environmental conditions such as jet engine fumes, dust, or jet engine noise. Must have ability to: regularly sit, talk, and hear; frequently stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, use hands to handle, or feel object and to reach with hands and arms; occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Preferred Requirements
  • Previous experience with AS9100D Quality Management
  • Previous ISR aircraft modification experience (Part 25 preferred)
  • Previous 145 Repair Station Accountable Manager
