Accounting Manager - Investment Accounting & Reporting

Reports To:

Controller - Investment Accounting and Reporting

Education/Certificates:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required and advanced degree is a plus;
  • A CPA (or equivalent) designation is a plus

Experience:
  • 5-7 years experience in accounting (financial analyst experience a plus)
  • Strong personnel management skills and a minimum two years' experience supervising an accounting department or being in a lead/senior capacity
  • Consolidation and investment accounting experience
  • YARDI experience
  • IFRS experience a plus
  • Real estate and public accounting experience a plus
  • Affordable Housing accounting experience a plus
  • Open End Fund experience a plus

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced high-volume team environment
  • Must be highly detailed, deadline oriented, and organized
  • Ability to prioritize work load and meet deadlines
  • Effective verbal and written communications
  • Ability to work collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external business associates to promote positive professional working relationships and environments

Essential Duties:
  • Responsible for monthly, quarterly and annual reporting to fund investors
  • Prepare and review quarterly NCREIF reporting
  • Participate in discussions with investors regarding financial and investment performance of asset\fund
  • Research and analyze various technical accounting related issues
  • Adhoc analysis and reporting
  • Manage Fund level cash flows (contributions and distributions \ preferred returns)
  • Manage Fund compliance with all executed agreements and regulatory requirements
  • Assist with audits and SOX compliance
  • Review and approve Staff work and assist in training of Staff
  • Participate in other projects as required
  • Manage and oversee day to day operations of accounting team including processing and approval of wires and journal entries, equity batches, and posting and maintenance of general ledger accounts.
  • Work closely with property accounting teams
  • Perform monthly general ledger review for unusual items for various entities
  • Ensure proper accounting and consolidation for acquisitions/dispositions
  • Review and post equity batch transactions for investor contributions and distributions based on understanding of investor/investee relationships.
  • Manage quarterly distribution process and coordinate flow of funds
  • Review and approve outgoing wires
  • Preparation of quarterly Market Value and IFRS basis consolidated financial statements and templates for investors by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger system and other departments
  • Review detail supporting schedules for monthly/quarterly financial packages
  • Review financial analytics for monthly/quarterly financial packages
  • Present monthly and quarterly financials to management
  • Manage successful completion of annual audit and issuance of annual audited financial statements
