Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday; 8:00 a.m. - 4:45 p.m.

Job Summary: Admissions Counselors identify, recruit, evaluate and enroll qualified students to the University and serve as on-campus and outside field representative of the University of Alabama. The primary duties include the recruitment and admission of new students to the University. These duties may include, travel, interviewing, making presentations, promoting the University of Alabama and screening applications.

Additional Department Summary: Position will provide after hours student support services to prospective and newly admitted students to distance degree programs. Provide initial admissions counseling to prospective students interested in pursuing distance degree programs. Cultivate prospective student inquiries and to provide concentrated student support services during a student's initial semester of enrollment in distance degree programs. Serve as a liaison between campus student support services (admissions, advisors, registrar, library services, tutoring services and financial aid). Manage inquiries made through CRM system and Academic Outreach web page inquiries.

Job requires in-state and out-of state travel.

Required Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma and four (4) years of experience in student recruitment, university admissions, public relations, marketing, sales, communications, education or counseling; OR Bachelor's degree and six (6) months of experience in student recruitment, university admissions, public relations, marketing, sales, communications, education or counseling.

Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report as determined by the insurance carrier. Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions.

Skills and Knowledge: Basic knowledge in the use of personal computers and standard application software (word processing, spreadsheets and/or data base management). Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills. The position requires the ability to stand for long periods of time and to lift and carry large quantities of sometimes heavy recruiting materials.

Preferred Qualifications: A minimum of two years experience in a professional position in higher education is preferred. General knowledge of institutional student services such as admissions, student receivables, and financial aid. General knowledge of UA's mainframe student information system (Banner).
