Job Description/Role Summary Purpose:

The Americas Project Specialist will be leading efforts to optimize how our suppliers can more efficiently package and process orders for Wabtec. You will have the opportunity to generate ideas and execute deflation projects with our global supply base. You will utilize experience, expertise, and leadership to solve problems, develop and execute objectives, and act as a change agent to move cross-functional projects to completion.

Essential Responsibilities: The Americas Packaging Engineer role will achieve the following objectives:

  • This individual develops, designs, and tests standards and guidelines for developing packaging solutions for Wabtec's parts
  • Identify and implement cost saving initiatives related to packaging materials, labor, efficiency, transportation, and storage
  • Lead idea generation events and activities such as action workouts, shipping line walks, supplier site idea generation events, and returnable dunnage implementations
  • Troubleshoot new and existing packaging problems involving designs, materials and processes and provide creative, timely, and cost-effective solutions
  • Accelerate execution of projects to start realizing savings as quickly as possible
  • Analyze engineering drawings and specifications of product to determine physical characteristics of item, special handling, environmental and safety requirements, and types of materials required for packaging
  • Specify and recommend efficiency tools and test methods to develop and validate packaging design
  • Conduct financial reviews with commodity team leaders and finance managers as needed to solidify project savings

Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Packaging from an accredited university or college
  • A minimum of 5 years of supply chain or sourcing experience
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 20% of the time

  • Erie, PA or Pittsburgh, PA
  • Fort Worth, TX
  • Duncan, SC
  • San Luis Potosi, Mexico

Relocation may be provided if you meet eligibility requirements.
