The Gene Therapy Program (GTP) is entering a new era of unprecedented opportunity with the great potential to reshape the face of medicine as we know it. Our discoveries have set the stage for successful treatments and possibly even cures for devastating genetic diseases.
The laboratory of Dr. Jim Wilson, at GTP of the University of Pennsylvania, has been a leader in the development of innovative vector technology for close to three decades. We have emerged as the “go-to” organization for public and private partners, who want to participate in the gene therapy space. Currently, we are positioned to lead another round of vector innovation and establish pre-clinical and clinical proof-of-concept in therapeutic applications of in-vivo genome editing.
Continuation of all GTP positions is contingent upon funding.
Our Vector Program, which includes Manufacturing Sciences and Technology (MS&T), Analytical Sciences and Technology (AS&T), External Manufacturing (EM) and Technical Operations teams, provides manufacturing and analytical support for basic, translational and clinical research. To support the enormous growth at GTP, the MS&T and AS&T teams will be supported by a newly established Information Systems Management team that will design and implement solutions to improve the efficiency and compliance of data management for GTP's Vector Program. Since successful information technology development and implementation will require a cross-functional approach for which the MS&T Information Management team will represent the technology developers and end users, the team will work closely with MS&T and AS&T subject matter experts (SMEs) as well as with GTP's Quality Assurance (QA) team and the University's Digital Academic Research Transformation (DART) team to establish new information systems and procedures.
We are currently seeking an Associate Director of MS&T Information Systems to work within a team to design, develop and implement innovative solutions to improve the efficiency and compliance of data management that are compliant with FDA and other regulatory body requirements. This candidate will oversee the development and implementation of LIMs modules such as Inventory, Consumable, Sample and Equipment Management as well as Electronic Notebook (ELN) modules by working collaboratively with all groups to ensure appropriate training, troubleshooting, and data integrity are developed and maintained. The development of procedures and work instructions as well as training and continuous systems improvement will also be a responsibility of the position. This candidate will create, review and approve CSV deliverables including, but not limited to, User Specifications, Design Specification, IQ/OQ/PQ for information management systems. Experience in Biotech or Biologics industry with a focus in Business Systems and data management is strongly preferred. This position will be responsible for supporting manufacturing activities for GMP testing and MS&T vector manufacturing.

- Master's Degree in Engineering, Biochemistry, Biology, or related disciplines and 5 - 7 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
- Experience in Biotech or Biologics industry with a focus in Business Systems and data management is strongly preferred.
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environment.
- Must be an independent thinker, meticulous, detail oriented, and analytical.
- Must be highly motivated, have excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
