Associate Scientist - Cell Culture

Absorption Systems, biopharmaceutical research organization located in Exton, PA is seeking an associate scientist to be part of our Cell Culture and Manufacturing group. Job responsibilities will include maintaining numerous mammalian cell lines, including passaging, feeding, plating, and cryopreservation. The scientist will also perform cell-based transport assays. Other duties include maintenance of lab equipment and lab notebooks, preparation of media and buffers, and ordering supplies. All cell culture work must be tracked using a bar-coded software system specifically designed for the group. The successful candidate must be highly motivated and have attention to detail, will be expected to learn new techniques quickly, and must be able to work independently as well as in a team-oriented environment. The position is for a full-time employee.

Responsibilities:

Working with a team of scientists in the Cell Culture and Manufacturing group, the individual will be involved in the following activities as part of job functions:

• Passaging, plating, and freezing cell lines.
• Maintenance of numerous culture flasks and plates weekly using sterile techniques.
• Preparation of media, buffers, and other reagents.
• Ordering and tracking of supplies.
• Use of barcoding and software to record all cell culture related activities is essential.
• Daily laboratory maintenance.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in biology, biochemistry, chemistry, or equivalent.
• 0-2 years of relevant mammalian cell culture experience.
• Strong work ethic and ability to work in a team based environment.
• Good organization and communication skills.
• Good computer skills, versed in Microsoft Office products.
