Bell Captain, The American Club

Do you like to contribute to the positive image of a hotel by providing guests with prompt, courteous service that exceeds the guests' expectations? Do you enjoy coordinating efforts of bell, door and driver services?  Then the position of Bell Captain at The American Club is for you!

As the Bell Captain, you will:

  • Open the door and greet guest with "sense of arrival" by using proper greeting and last name.
  • Supervise check-ins and checkouts by coordinating actions of the Bell Staff for maximum utilization..
  • Oversee bell stand, receiving telephone messages and taking appropriate action.
    Manage staffing levels and placement of Bell Staff to maintain appropriate guest flow.
  • Valet or retrieve guest's vehicle if requested or give directions to parking areas for self-park.
  •  Plan and supervise organization and implementation of group luggage handling and/or storage (i.e. labeling and locking), and execute delivery.
  • Supervise and implement group amenities.
  • Supervise execution of group transports.
  • Prepare and process Conference Services gratuity forms for luggage handling.
  • Attend weekly Sales/Conference Services meetings, as needed.
  • Attend pre-conference meetings on behalf of Guest Services.
  • Oversee the resume binder to stay informed of any group needs for the Guest Service department (amenity, luggage pulls, transportation needs, bus arrivals/departures, etc.).
  • Lead Bell Staff work assignments, manage scheduling of Bell Staff and in some locations Shuttle Drivers. Ensure appropriate staffing levels for events and large group arrivals/departures.
  • Act as Manager on Duty in the absence of other leadership to respond to and resolve escalated guest concerns or requests.
  • Assist with coordinating security detail as needed for events and VIP guests.
  • Oversee marquees for accurate and organized presentation of information.
  • Deliver messages from Front Desk or Concierge to guests.

This is a full time position with shifts weekdays and weekends varying between 6:00 am and 11:00 pm.


  • Mustbe at least 21 years of age and possess a valid driver's license.
  •  Mustdemonstrate the ability to safely drive the 14 passenger shuttle bus.
  • Strongverbal and written communication skills is necessary.
  • Physical requirementsinclude: walking, standing for extended periods, bending, reaching andfrequently lifting up to 50 pounds. At least 5 years of previous experiencerequired. Previous supervisor experience desired.
  • Workhours will frequently include weekends and holidays and occasionally includeovernight shifts.
