Description:

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania is conducting a national search for a new Chief of the Maternal Fetal Medicine Division. We are seeking candidates for an Associate or Full Professor position in either the non-tenure clinician educator track or the tenure track. Applicants must have an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. or equivalent degree. Candidates must be board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology in Maternal Fetal Medicine.

We are seeking a dynamic and collaborative academic leader who exhibits administrative skills, with strong experience in sponsoring others.

Teaching responsibilities may include teaching and supervising medical students, Ob/Gyn residents and MFM fellows, and participation in formal curriculum. The ACGME-accredited 3-year fellowship matches two fellows each year.

Clinical responsibilities may include out-patient consultations for high risk obstetrical, maternal and fetal conditions, obstetrical ultrasound, antenatal testing, prenatal genetic diagnosis, as well as in-patient consultation and obstetrical care at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania Hospital, and the MFM satellite practices.

Research or scholarship responsibilities may include basic, translational, clinical and/or health policy research. Collaborative science is highly valued. Applicants should have an established research program and an outstanding record of publications.

The ideal candidate will have extensive expertise in high-risk obstetrics, leadership, research, and foster collaboration. Currently, the division has 18 physicians and physician-scientists who practice across 2 Philadelphia locations as well as 7 additional locations in the greater Philadelphia region. Division faculty are fully involved in the supervision and staffing of the Labor and Delivery units at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and Pennsylvania Hospital. More than 9,000 patients deliver annually at these hospitals, and the division provides comprehensive perinatal services for more than 22,000 deliveries annually. The antenatal testing units at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and Pennsylvania Hospital perform more than 42,000 outpatient visits annually.

Clinical and research interests of the MFM division encompass the entire field of obstetrics, reproductive genetics, and maternal-fetal medicine including basic, translation, clinical and policy research. The division is one of 13 sites in the NICHD Maternal Fetal Medicine Units Network and one of five March of Dimes Prematurity Research Centers. The Division has secured impressive levels of extramural funding over many years and sustained success is a Departmental priority. The investigator-initiated research programs are interdisciplinary and collaborative.

We seek candidates who embrace and reflect diversity in the broadest sense. The University of Pennsylvania is an EOE. Minorities/women/individuals with disabilities/protected veterans are encouraged to apply.
