Responsibilities

Are you certified as a Nursing Assistant and interested in taking your career to the next level as a Certified Medical Assistant? Are you passionate about delivering high-quality care while making an impact on patient lives and the community? Wellstar's four-month Certified Medical Assistant Training Program will help you get there. Next Cohort begins in September!

The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) Trainee will be responsible for successfully completing a CMA training program with a Wellstar academic partner or through a Wellstar training program. The CMA Trainee will receive training through classroom (virtual and/or in person) and clinical sessions that will develop skills in communication, interpersonal skills, infection control, safety, preparing patients for examinations, assisting during treatments, and coordinating tests and follow-up care.

Under the direction and supervision of a licensed nurse, or certified medical assistant, the CMA Trainee role is designed to provide an experiential learning opportunity for students to evolve towards skilled practice through the acquisition of basic clinical skills and advancing their knowledge related to patient care. Upon successful completion of this program, the CMA Trainee will be prepared to successfully pass a certification exam through an approved medical assisting credentialing body.
Qualifications

Required Minimum Education: High school diploma or equivalent

Required Minimum Experience: One (1) year of experience in a clinical or administrative front office support role as a CNA (with current certification)

Required Minimum Certification:• Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification required• Current BLS card from American Heart Association

Required Minimum Skills:• Ability to read, write and speak the English language• Clear verbal and written communication• Ability to follow detailed directions• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills• Basic computer skills required; Ability to enter information into an electronic medical record• Ability to work individually and as part of a team• Ability to function in a fast-paced environment• Ability to multi-task essential
