FAU Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute is seeking a Coastal Ocean Modeler - Fort Pierce, FL.

Summary of Responsibilities Include:

  • Assist in the development and implementation of coupled physical-biogeochemical models for studying harmful algal blooms, water quality, and/or carbon cycle in various freshwater lakes, estuarine and coastal regions.
  • Perform numerical simulations, analysis of the model results, and data analysis, and prepares scientific reports, presentations and/or publications.
  • Coordinate research activities between related projects and within the team and collaborators.
Minimum Qualifications:Master's degree from an accredited institution in Marine Science, Oceanography, or related area and one year of appropriate experience is required.

PhD degree is preferred.

One year of actual ocean modeling related experience is highly preferred.

Significant knowledge of at least one of the generic coastal ocean models (e.g., POM, ECOM-si, ROMS, FVCOM).

Strong programming and mathematical skills are desired; familiar with high performance computing (HPC) environment and significant knowledge of Fortran, Matlab, and/or Python is required.
