Position: Contract Intervener

Location: Sherman, TX

Rate of Pay: $14.09 hourly

**2 Staff Members Needed**

Hours: 40-50 hours (4-5 days) per week, 8 a.m. - 9 p.m.

HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

Attendant for a blind, autistic, female client with severe hearing loss. Client is nonverbal and only communicates with gestures. Client is ambulatory but needs help with her daily living skills and going out into the community. She likes to go to the store to make purchases and pick up meals but needs assistance from the contract staff with all purchases. She also needs assistance with meal preparation and shopping for her meals.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Proficiently communicates in the functional language of the individual to whom the Intervener is assigned
• Feels comfortable working in close physical proximity to individual while frequently using touch to communicate with and instruct individuals who are primarily tactile learners
• Demonstrates emotional maturity, stability, and ability to perform under stress, and possesses frustration tolerance
• Shows ability to exercise good judgment, cooperation, tact, and discretion in dealing with the individual, family, etc.
• Shows interest in developing additional knowledge and skills

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Must NOT be the spouse of the individual to whom the Intervener is assigned: or if the individual is under 18 years of age, a parent of the individual to whom the Intervener is assigned.
• Must have a High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum of two years experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities
• Minimum of six months experience working with persons who have deafblindness
• Valid Texas Drivers' License.
