An American Company is seeking a Data Center Technician in Coral Gables

Role Description

• Perform installation, racking, maintenance, cabling of infrastructure equipment, repair and relocation of electrical power distribution, backup, and generation equipment for the Data Center's raised floor. Check to ensure all power cords are secure and clipped in place if applicable.
• Supports the Data Center Services team to allocate electrical power to the server cabinets on the Data Center raised floor and selected Network/Telecom closets. Checks server cabinets to ensure proper voltage, grounding and that all power cords are labeled and secure as per Data Center SOP standards.
• Performs testing, preventive maintenance and analyzes data to ensure data center infrastructure equipment such as switchgear, generators, chillers, Uninterrupted Power Systems (UPS) are functioning according to standard operating procedures. Must be able to work around medium voltage or mechanical equipment in a safe manner to take readings.
• Assist Data Center Services Team as well as System Engineers with troubleshooting power issues on server(s) cabinets in order to mitigate extended downtime when issues arise.
• Performs administrative functions such as work orders in Task Management System (TMS); reviewing floor plans of the building; documenting incidents, submitting mileage reimbursement, timesheet/payroll information, responding to emails and voicemails according to team policy, adhering to team Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
• Assists in receiving and deploying data center server cabinets, ensuring proper placement per designated location. Inspects all cabinets to ensure they are in proper working order to include doors opening and closing while maintaining the proper distance from other equipment as per fire codes.
• Provides input for the creation or modification of Maintenance Operation Protocols/Standard operating Procedures (MOPS/SOPS) for the critical data center infrastructure equipment. Ensures MOPS/SOPS are followed during all routine or emergency maintenance/repairs.
• Work closely with the Data Center Services Team on communicating, addressing, and escalating any alarms/alerts for the Data Center infrastructure equipment, especially for instances necessitating notifying Change Management on issues that could potentially cause downtime, damage, or corruption to the server equipment at any and all Data Centers.
• Monitor and operate all building control systems such as Tracer Summit (HVAC), Automated Logic Control (building automation), Alber (battery monitoring), VESDA (Very Early Smoke Detection), Onyx (fire alarm system), Powerlynx (generator controls) and GE Electrical Distribution System (electrical control).
• Escorts, oversees, and supports vendors in maintenance and installation of Data Center infrastructure equipment at all remote data centers, checking in with the site's local engineering team prior to commencing work and ensuring vendors follow the site's specific standards and procedures.

Skills & Requirements

Top Skills / Requirements
• 5+ years of Technology and Data Center support experience in enterprise setting
• Must possess excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills and experience
• Must possess proven experience in the following areas: installation, racking, maintenance, cabling of infrastructure equipment, repair and relocation of electrical power distribution, backup, and generation equipment for the Data Center's raised floor.
• Must possess proven experience working with Engineering teams (e.g. Networking, Systems, etc.) for escalation purposes
• Good verbal and written communication skills required
• CompTIA A+ certification strongly preferred
