Description: Our client is currently seeking a Data Engineer - Python / Azure
This Position is Fully Remote
This position is candidate preference (Contract, Contract to Hire, Full Time)The Judge Group is seeking a talented and motivated individual to fill the role of data engineer in Data Science team for it's portfolio of internal and customer facing applications. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in working with machine learning models, ETL, DevOps, Cloud technologies, API development, and proficient in Python, SQL, Excel, R.

In this role, you will...

• Develop REST APIs and backend services using Python.
• Refactor Python / R code developed by Data Scientists to prepare them for production.
• Collaborate with Software Engineering teams to design the APIs to work for.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop REST APIs and backend services using Python.
• Perform code reviews and productionize Python projects.
• Conduct research leveraging big data technologies that surface actionable insight that influence analytical solutions roadmap.
• Gather and process raw data at scale by using Python.
• Process unstructured data into a form suitable for analysis and then do the analysis.
• Work with images, video, PDF and document file formats
• Utilize critical thinking skills to assess how AI capabilities can best be applied to complex business situations.
• Work closely with engineering, test and DevOps teams to integrate your ideas, innovations, and algorithms into production systems.
• Support business decisions with ad hoc analysis as needed.
• Query databases with structured and un-structured data and perform statistical analysis
• Apply quantitative analysis and data mining expertise in presenting data to visualize beyond the numbers and the underlying trends and use that analysis in process automation
• Proficiency with statistical computing languages for data analysis, such Python (preferred) and R.
• You ask why, you explore, you're not afraid to blurt out your disruptive idea. You are constantly exploring new open-source tools.
• Analytical skills, with an emphasis on quantitative analysis, descriptive and inferential statistics a plus

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Undergraduate degree in computer science or related field with strong fundamentals in programming & database concepts
• Experience in using any programming language for 5+ years and python 3+ years
• Experience developing real-world REST APIs on Django or Flask framework (2+ years)
• Experience in software development lifecycle, data science development lifecycle is a plus
• Experience with SQL Server or other relational databases
• Experience with extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) tools
• Deep knowledge of cluster-computing framework, specifically Apache Spark/Hadoop (1+ years)
• Some real-world experience using Azure Data Factory (ADF)
• Deep knowledge on large scale object stores (e.g. HDFS) and the ecosystem of tools used for machine learning applications.
• Exposure to cloud environments preferably Azure
