Position Summary

The Director of Event Sales is responsible for directly contributing to the overall success of the resort by overseeing event and large group sales. This individual will develop and set revenue and marketing strategies to ensure plans are implemented, results are monitored and sales goals are achieved. They will promote resort sales such as; resort events, school groups, special events, catered events and other large groups or events.

Duties

  1. Maintains regular communication, highlighting peak demand and need periods with the operations, event sales and marketing teams
  2. Interprets business analytics into meaningful actions to improve overall resort performance
  3. Oversees and supports Event Sales team in seeking out profitable event business by pursuing, developing and closing event sales to meet monthly goals: activity, pipeline, forecasted opportunities and revenue targets
  4. Oversees marketing promotions including, but not limited to the creation and implementation of long-term seasonal value added offers and short-term promotional discounts in conjunction with operations and marketing teams
  5. Coordinates team member selection and development and ensures team members comply with appropriate policies and procedures.
  6. Adheres to Suns Timekeeping Policy by reviewing, verifying accuracy, approving and submitting direct report(s) time recorded.
  7. Partners with Team Relations on team member counseling and recommendation of termination when appropriate.
  8. Conducts team member performance reviews and recommends compensation adjustments.
  9. Provides training and feedback to direct reports to improve their sales acumen, including presentation skills and negotiation
  10. Participates in the preparation of the annual budget and marketing plan
  11. Creates and implements sales plans that drive occupancy goals, increase volume and average daily rates
  12. Produces regular reports and sales forecast analysis of current and potential sales trends
  13. Collaborates with the food & beverage team in maintenance and growth of event offerings
  14. Develops and maintains positive working relationships with all supervisors, team members and support teams to reach common goals
  15. Develops and maintains long term business and community relationships
  16. Other duties as assigned


Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED (Required)
  • Bachelor's Degree in (Preferred)
  • 2 years experience in organizing events, including luncheons, weddings and other special occasions
  • Ability to respond to business needs after normal business hours.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Advanced computer proficiency
