Normal Work Schedule: 7:30 am - 4:30 pm - Shifts may vary . May be required to work some nights and weekends. May be required to cover some Sunday Church support transportation.
Job Summary: The Driver operates automobiles, vans, or other vehicles. Duties may include loading and unloading materials, goods, equipment, and passengers between various destinations as assigned. May be responsible for vehicle maintenance and presentation.
Additional Department Summary: The Resident Driver is responsible for transporting residents to scheduled appointments and other activities. Will assist residents on and off transportation vehicles, including helping with residents' assistive devices. Assist residents when away from Capstone Village. Ability to cover transportation needs for any unexpected trips or events with limited notice.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Demonstrated ability to read and comprehend memos, reports, and a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, and/or schedule form. Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies. Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions.
Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Must have experience transporting residents in a safe, responsible manner to scheduled appointments and other activities. Final candidates who are not current University of Alabama employees must submit to and successfully pass a post-offer drug screen.
Skills and Knowledge: Should be a team player. Should show respect for others. Should be able to discuss garage repairs/vehicle issues and be able to follow through on the garage repairs/vehicle issues. Should be computer literate.
Preferred Qualifications: High school diploma or GED
