JOB SUMMARY:

In order to survive and grow in an increasingly competitive and accountable business environment, organizations are starting to report not only on their financial performance, but also on their non-financial performance. There is an increased demand for better environmental, social, and governance ("ESG") programming and reporting due to heightened investor interest, regulatory drivers, and increased climate urgency. This increased demand is fueling the need for an expanded ESG function within Globe Life.

The ESG function currently is housed within the ERM Department, led by the ESG Manager and supported by the Company's ESG Committee. At this time, the Company's focus on ESG is rising in prominence due to increased interest from senior management, the Board of Directors, the investor community, rating agencies, and our regulators. The ESG Specialist role is a newly created position for Globe Life, and will provide excellent growth opportunities for the right candidate, including exposure at senior management levels.

The ESG Specialist will support the ESG Manager, the Divisional VP of Enterprise Risk, and the Chair of the ESG Committee with the further development and implementation of the Company's ESG program. The ESG Specialist will collaborate with cross-functional partners across the enterprise to support the achievement of ESG initiatives for Globe Life

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support the development of a formalized ESG program that is directly tied to the Company's strategies and goals
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners across the enterprise, including HR, Facilities, Investor Relations, Investments, Finance, Legal, Compliance, Marketing, Corporate Governance and others, to share information and data pertaining to ESG metrics
  • Support the development of workflows and systems that ensure operational reliability, accountability, and clear feedback for high-priority ESG initiatives
  • Conduct research on ESG best practices, including research into the ESG programs of peer companies
  • Stay informed on ESG trends and developments and make suggestions for potential improvements for the Company
  • Supporting the VP, Enterprise Risk and the ESG Manager in researching topics to be covered at the quarterly ESG Committee meetings
  • Assist with the Company's ESG reporting and disclosures
  • Adapt to changing regulations surrounding ESG-related disclosures and policies in the U.S., Canada and New Zealand (including: SEC, NAIC, etc.)
  • Support the Company's compliance with ESG standards and frameworks, including: SASB and TCFD
  • Contribute to the tracking of ESG metrics and data across the enterprise
