Summary of Duties:

Under the general direction of the Office of Research Administrative Manager, the Fiscal Specialist 2 will perform a variety of complex and varied personnel support and/or fiscal support functions including personnel allocations, personnel recruiting, time and leave report auditing and payroll functions, support event and travel coordination, interpreting and review of operational tasks involving an overlap or combination of disciplines, coordinating diverse unit-wide fiscal support functions such as supply inventory management, travel reimbursement, purchasing and fiscal planning.


Required Qualifications:

  • Two years of experience at a level equivalent to Fiscal Specialist 1 AND 15 quarter hours OR 10 semester hours of college level accounting; OR equivalent education/experience.

  • Demonstrated excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word.

  • Demonstrated experience with spreadsheets and databases.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and to effectively interact with people in a positive manner.

  • Demonstrated ability to interact with large groups and individuals at all work levels.

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with Workday HCM and FDM areas and roles.

  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and move proficiently from task to task. Demonstrated knowledge of WSU Business policies and procedures in finance, personnel and administrations.

  • Experience in higher education, local or state agency, or equivalent.

Monthly Salary: Range 43, $3,370 - $4,398 ( Step A through L). Successful candidates typically begin at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28.
