Job Description:

Sarah Lawrence invites applications for a one-year, full-time guest faculty member (two courses each semester) in U.S. history, to begin fall semester 2022. Area of specialization is 19th and 20th centuries. This position has the possibility for renewal for up to three years. Sarah Lawrence is looking for candidates who could teach broad-ranging but creative courses that go beyond traditional surveys. Of particular interest are historians of politics, labor and gender, with added interest in those conversant with questions of race and the environment. The candidate should be able to teach both lectures and seminars and should complement the areas already covered in the curriculum. Applicants should submit a curriculum vitae; a cover letter addressing their teaching and scholarship; a short writing sample; and syllabi for at least two proposed undergraduate courses. In addition, applicants should provide the names and contact information for three professional references. The position will remain open until filled; review of applications will begin on June 1, 2022.

Preferred Qualifications:

Ph.D. in hand preferred. Increased consideration will be given to candidates with a record of effective college-level teaching and experience guiding undergraduate research projects.

Requirements for Employment:
