Overview

Claflin University is seeking to hire an Information Technolgy Specialist III-Application Specialist.

Responsibilities

 

This position will report to the Associate Vice President for Information Technology and assume responsibility as the liaison between university personnel and the administrative computing software vendors. The IT Specialist will analyze current university operations, provide leadership streamlining business processes to increase the efficient usage of organizational resources, and develop new and/or review existing policies and procedures related to the administrative computing area.  Provide training and consultation to administrative systems users, recommend university policies, procedures, and standards for the administrative computing environment, and forecast and plan long and short-term ERP needs. Serve as the primary liaison between various levels of departments and technical personnel to determine the administrative needs of the university. Maintain database integrity, security, upgrades, and the day-to-day operations of the administrative systems.  Design and implement reporting systems for all levels of the University, provide extensive application, technical and telephone support to personnel, and serve on various committees responsible for the continued improvement of administrative operations.  Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

 

Bachelor's degree is required, and a master's degree is preferred in computer science or related field and prior experience required. The successful candidate must be knowledgeable of program design, testing, debugging, maintenance techniques, and best practices. Must be familiar with and have experience  with Educational Administrative Systems processes and trends as related to higher educational institutions. Ability to work independently with minimum supervision, establish priorities, prepare technical reports, interact positively with faculty, staff, users and vendors, and plan, direct, instruct, review, and monitor the progress of administrative systems required.  Problem solving, critical thinking, decision-making, customer service, and effective communication and presentation skills are required. Candidate must exhibit good moral judgement, high degree of confidentiality, and exemplary standards of database integrity and security.
