The Department of Linguistics, Languages and Cultures seeks one part-time Instructor/Assistant Professor. This is a non-recurring, part-time, fixed-term position for a single course in Spring 2023 beginning January 1, 2023. MA, ABD, or PhD in Japanese literature, culture, film, media studies, or the equivalent. Preference given to advanced PhD student, ABD, Ph.D. or the equivalent. A Master's degree is required for the Instructor position; a PhD for the Assistant Professor position (all degrees must be conferred by the time of hire).Equal Employment Opportunity Statement

Doctorate -Japanese LanguageMinimum Requirements
M.A. or higher degree in Japanese literature, culture, film, or related field;
One to two years experience teaching college students in a classroom setting in North America;
Native or near-native proficiency in both Japanese and English;
Evidence of teaching effectiveness (quantitative and sample of qualitative data from teaching evaluations);
Basic instructional technology skills, including navigating through course management systems such a D2L or Blackboard.
Experience teaching Japanese culture and literature
Experience teaching a research-based seminar with a Japanese language component
Cover letter with a brief statement of teaching philosophy and a summary of Japanese teaching experience as it relates to this position's requirements;
Diversity statement, including any experience mentoring diverse students or faculty, or community outreach initiatives, and an explanation of how you will advance our goals of inclusive excellence;
Names and email addresses of three recommenders;
Representative samples of course syllabi, tests, and/or other materials, including evidence of teaching effectiveness (i.e., student evaluation summaries), if available;
