Responsibilities

The Department of Mass Communications invites applications for an instructor/assistant professor for the Fall 2022 semester. The successful candidate will be required to teach a wide range of courses not limited to video production, broadcast writing and reporting, multimedia reporting as well as news reporting, and audio and video editing. The candidate may also produce and deliver a student-led newscast for the department and supervise the CU National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) student chapter.

Qualifications

: MA/MS in Mass Communications with a minimum of 18 documented hours in journalism, broadcast journalism or mass communications and expertise in broadcast news reporting and media writing are required. PhD preferred. Professional experience in a newsroom is also required. Expertise with the Adobe Creative Suite and knowledge of multimedia equipment is expected, along with a record of working with students.

PREFERRED: Preferred applicants will have at least two years' experience teaching courses in Broadcast News production to undergraduate students and the capacity to teach Adobe Premiere Pro. Also, ideal candidates should have some knowledge of news and script writing software.
