Summary

The Lead EHS Services Programs Specialist will demonstrate leadership in communicating Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) goals, programs, and processes for an area or business segment. In this role, you will utilize your experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and enable customers to meet business goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, technical support, training, and project management for the development of environmental, health, and safety strategies
  • Facilitate risk elimination programs
  • Lead and build positive relationships with diverse teams of hourly and management employees
  • Integrate safety, industrial hygiene, ergonomics, compliance assurance, and care for the environment into all aspects of managing the business
  • Manage center of excellence (business/plant) environmental risk, and compliance with Title V air permit, RCRA TSD permit, NPDES permit, EPCRA reporting, DOT, & others within the assigned area
  • Lead the development and facilitate the execution of risk elimination plans
  • Support the site participation in the OSHA Voluntary Protection Program
  • Provide technical resources, EHS data analysis, and interpretation of regulations
  • Audit for compliance to regulatory compliance, business strategic programs, and risk reduction initiatives

Qualifications/Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in an EHS related technical field
  • GSP, ASP, CSP, or CIH certifications preferred

Desired Characteristics
  • Minimum of 5 years of EHS professional work experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with heavy manufacturing environments
  • Strong team building, oral and written communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Demonstrated ability to interface effectively with all levels within the company as well as external organizations (including regulatory agencies)
  • Strong analytical skills, structured problem solving (six sigma, lean, A3, systems safety) experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of environmental regulations
  • Working industrial hygiene experience

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand for long durations of time and be mobile throughout the workday. Employee must be able to effectively communicate (talk and hear), and use hands and fingers to handle, or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. Regularly required to operate a variety of automated office machines which includes a computer, printer, copy machine, calculator, telephone, etc. Must be able to move or carry objects or materials.

Mental Demands:

While performing the duties of this class, the employee is regularly required to use written and oral communication skills; read and interpret data, information and documents; analyze and solve problems; use math and mathematical reasoning; observe and interpret situations; learn, apply and teach new information or skills; and interact with other employees, customers and vendors.

Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in an indoor manufacturing environment. The employee will work in areas exposed to production activities to include but not limited to production machinery, assembly operations, overhead cranes usage, and forklift traffic. The employee will be required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to workplace hazards.
