Network Installation Technician

Job Description 

The successful candidate will be able to:   

• Knowledge of Passive Optical Networks (PONS) 
• Knowledge of RJ45/11 Copper Networks
• Experience installing single-mode OS2 fiber optic cable
• Experience conducting cabling refresh installations experience providing wire maps and documentation with autocad21 (preferred not required)
• Excellent written and verbal business communication skills with ability to concisely communicate issues to management, users and peers with diverse backgrounds and cultures 
• Ability to follow & enforce established processes and security guidelines and effectively communicate them to users 
• Candidate must be reliable, on-time and able to complete tasks by target dates 
• Maintain a professional work ethic & demeanor 
• Excellent organization & time management skills 
• Lift 50+ pounds of equipment 

Key Tasks and Responsibilities 

• Provides input to deliverables as required. 
• Build and configure network infrastructure devices. 
• Pull/remove copper cabling infrastructure and place, wire, and cable manage the new fiber wiring infrastructure.
• Perform hardware lifecycle replacement. 
• Maintain property accountability. 
• Perform network service management. 
• Perform the network installation and hardware refresh following DoD guidelines and security procedures, processes, and directives. Follow color coding standards for new cabling.
• Maintain a complete set of network drawings and diagrams that depict an accurate representation of the configuration of the local infrastructure.
• Flexibility with hours of operation for the network install to accommodate for authorized service interrupts and maintenance windows. Normal business hours will be 0700-1700.

Education & Experience  

• BS/BA degree (Additional experience may substitute for degree levels) 
• Requires 3-5 years of related experience 

Certifications  

One or more of the following is required: 

• Industry specific certification desired but not required. 

Security Clearance  

• NIPRNet Access, SIPRNet Access IAT-II minimum  
• Requires Secret Clearance

Other (Travel, Work Environment, DoD 8570 Requirements, Administrative Notes, etc.) 

DISA Global operates out of two geographically diverse locations: Scott AFB, Illinois and Hill AFB, Utah. The Scott AFB location acts as the command headquarters and is primary office for the DISA Global Commander and Command Section staff. Some travel may be required at or under 15%.
