Summary: Use hand tools or hand-held power tools to cut and trim a variety of brake shoes. Inspect, measure materials, shoes or work for conformance to specifications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Inspect products for non-conformances such as rubber spots, cracks, chips, or unacceptable appearance to quality standard.
• Trim excess material based on standards of finished products, such as excessive flash from molded shoe for a set standard of appearance for customer satisfaction.
• Use the off-line grinder to grind down material to meet thickness specifications of final drawing.
• Cut, shape, and trim materials, using files, scrappers, and other hand tools, portable power tools, or bench-mounted tools.
• Package products according to instructions, on SOP.
• Mark identification numbers, trademarks, grades, marketing data, material ID, or model numbers on products.
• Final 100% inspection during each process step ensuring good product is passed to each process step and final packaging.
• Regular on-site attendance is required.
• Follow all company established safety and employment rules.

Education/Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Ability:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and extreme heat (non-weather). The employee is occasionally exposed to airborne particles.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Hearing and respiratory protection are required in certain areas of the plant and by job assignment

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to:

-Stand at Finishing or Off-Line.

-Walk approximately 4 feet at 480 times per shift, for a distance of approximately 1,920 feet per shift.

-Placing shoes in a box. Each shoe averages 8 pounds so constant inspecting and lifting of approximately 16 pounds for approximately six hours of standard work for an eight-hour shift. This is then repeated for a total lifted of approximately 3,840 pounds per shift.
-There might be an occasion to lift up to 15 pounds sparingly.
