Press Technician - Development Position Summary:

In this role you will be responsible for setting up and operating presses used in the manufacture of precision stamped prototype components and working directly with toolmakers during the development process.
Responsibilities

Press Technician - Development Responsibilities:

  • Single stage stamping press as well as other equipment used in the manufacture of precision stamped components
  • Accurately load parts into fixtures for laser and robotic operations and/or single stage press equipment
  • Troubleshoot the machine and investigates machine issues during production runs
  • Perform visual and measurement inspections and accurately documents the results
  • Follow manufacturing and quality procedures and complies to the documented requirements
  • Use microscope or visual equipment on a regular basis to visually inspect parts
  • Willingness to cross-train in multiple manufacturing areas
  • Understand customer needs and the core business markets we serve
Qualifications

Press Technician - Development Position Requirements:
  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment running machining equipment
  • Ability to set up and run stamping presses
  • Ability to read a progression strip
  • Ability to comprehend and follow work instructions, SOP's and training documents, including the ability to create and document new processes
  • Ability to use hand tools such as a micrometer, pin gauge, caliper and dial indicator
  • Ability to troubleshoot and maintain equipment
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Excellent shop math skills to include fractions, decimals, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
  • Basic understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Ability to take direction from the area lead or supervisor
  • Ability to provide input to the area lead and participate in department meetings
  • Ability to cross train in other areas of production when required
  • Knowledge of theory of cutting and forming principles in the stamping process
  • Mechanical Aptitude
  • Dexterity and hand and eye coordination
  • Strong problem-solving skills
Physical & Environmental Demands:

Cretex Companies use cutting oils, solvents, and other chemicals in the manufacturing process. Testing is conducted on a periodic basis to ensure that all chemicals are kept well below the OSHA permissible exposure levels.
