The Global Privacy team at PayPal are seeking an experienced and passionate privacy professional with AI and privacy preserving technologies knowhow, and practical self-starter mindset to advise the company on navigating the rapidly evolving global privacy and Artificial Intelligence landscape.

Business Privacy Partner (BPP), will be a member of PayPal's growing Privacy Oversight & Governance team and will provide Business Advisory support and help lead privacy compliance efforts for PayPal, working transversally with legal privacy counsel, data sciences, product engineering, data management and protection professionals at minimum.

This role requires a strong understanding of privacy standards and frameworks along with familiarity of concepts and key privacy concerns in the AI/ML space.

Your day to day

In your day-to-day role, you will be responsible for:

  • Providing SME support to the business teams and continue to guide PayPal's efforts around responsible data use
  • Translating legislative requirements to the development and application of AI, machine learning and data science solutions
  • Working closely with cross functional teams to reflect PayPal's commitment to using data for good
  • Contribute to the development and rollout of privacy requirements in responsible AI framework and align the global privacy program to address the dynamic regulatory privacy and evolving AI regulatory landscape
  • Identify use cases to apply privacy preserving techniques and contribute to the development and implementation of privacy code
  • Enhance the privacy by design toolkit to include requirements pertaining to personal data use in the AI/ ML models
  • Advocate for transparent, fair, and information rights-based approach to AI and data use
  • Identify emerging ethical, privacy and technical problems within AI and data science and develop approaches to mitigate these issues by collaborating with respective business stakeholders
  • Stay updated with the relevant legal, social, and technological developments globally, which may impact data rights of individuals

What do you need to bring
  • Higher education qualifications in social impact of technology preferred or equivalent experience
  • Experience of the latest privacy preserving machine learning techniques and related technologies
  • Experience with global data protection laws, standards, and associated frameworks (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, LGPD, PDPA, APPI etcetera)
  • Experience of developing new approaches to managing and mitigating ethical and responsible use issues with AI and data
  • Strong research skills demonstrating an ability to identify emerging trends, issues, and technologies
  • Strong risk management, organization, planning and prioritization skills.
  • Knowledge of current trends and practices relating to the use of AI, machine learning, data, and algorithms
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to influence and build effective working relationships with internal partners in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal, ability to communicate complex business information in a clear and compelling way.
  • Ability to multitask effortlessly and manage competing priorities under demanding deadlines.
