Product Control Analyst

Position Overview:

• The level of the role in the organization such as reporting relationship - This is a working Product Control Analyst role and will work with a manager within the Middle Office, Product Control team.
• Areas the role supports- This role resides within the Product Control function and will support Motiva's Supply & Trading team.
• Overview of general major initiatives to support the organization (not to include specific job duties as that is covered in the Accountabilities section)- The role is primarily responsible for daily Risk Exposure and P&L analysis and reporting and will be involved with related initiatives and projects.

Responsibilities:

• Daily activities will include Risk Exposure and P&L analysis and reporting.
• Liaise with Front Office and IT as necessary to trouble-shoot and resolve discrepancies.
• Work with Finance and Accounting to close the books at month-end.
• Assist with identification, development, testing and implementation of New Activity Enablement, ETRM System Enhancements, Continuous Improvement and/or various other project initiatives.

Experience and Qualifications Required:

Basic Qualifications:

• Experience in a trading, compliance, risk control, finance, or trading support role
• Excellent knowledge of Natural Gas, NGLs, Petchems and/or Refined Products markets.
• Prior experience using Right Angle
• Strong understanding of trading instruments (futures, swaps, options, etc.) and physical commodity markets, including representation and scheduling within Right Angle.
• Understanding of risk concepts (Long/Short, Market/Price, P&L, Operational, Credit, Position Limits, etc.)
• Prior Control experience (e.g. independent price verification, fair value accounting, liquidity reserves, etc.) and understanding of risks to financial accounting statements
• Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills including the ability to interact with all levels of staff and management
• Strong analytical, organizational, problem solving and communications skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Team-oriented with the ability to work independently
• Must be proficient with MS Excel
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university (or equivalent work experience)
• Minimum of two (2) years professional experience
• Self-motivated individual who functions well in a team environment

Preferred Qualifications:

• Preference for working knowledge of Petcoke and Sulphur markets.
• Experience using Risk Management systems
• Excellent influencing and communication skills preferred
• Experience with exposure decomposition and how Natural Gas/NGLs/PetChems/Refined Products markets are traded and priced
• Proficiency in:
  • Tableau
  • MS PowerPoint
  • Access, Oracle, or comparable database applications is preferred
