Occupational Summary

The NSF Center for the Chemistry of Molecularly Optimized Networks (MONET) Team is seeking applications for a Director of Innovation, Outreach, Diversity, and Education (DIODE). The DIODE will coordinate and administer all outreach activities within the assigned program.

Work Performed

Program Management (30%)

  • Plan, coordinate, and administer activities of assigned programs for the MONET Center.
  • Advise students on related Signature Professional Development Experiences (SPDEs)
  • Communicate outreach opportunities for students to the Managing Director for inclusion in the newsletter; coordinate industry outreach; arrange industry site visits and coordinate potential research internships for MONET trainees.
  • Maintain and update training materials for educational use.
  • Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness using qualitative and quantitative research techniques; investigate trends and recommend and implement modifications to improve program effectiveness to MONET Managing Director.

Communication & Outreach (40%)

  • Collect and disseminate information on outreach opportunities for associated students.
  • Provide regular content to Managing Director for inclusion in the MONET newsletter.
  • Maintain shared resources related to outreach
  • Coordinate industry outreach: arrange industry site visits and coordinate potential research internships for MONET trainees.
  • Serve as point-of-contact for external translational partners and stakeholders in MONET's data efforts, including corporations, other academic research centers, and government research organizations. Connect internal/external challenges and opportunities to promote the adoption and impact of tools.
  • Serve as point-of-contact for external educational partners and stakeholders in MONET's data efforts, such as undergraduate research teams and citizen scientists.
  • Communicate key accomplishments of MONET's data efforts to partners and stakeholders.

Event Management (15%)

  • Schedule, coordinate, and successfully execute all MONET-related outreach events (including space reservations, speaker/guest arrangement, and all logistical arrangements).
  • Collect and outcome data to submit to the Managing Director
  • Assist MONET Managing Director with tracking activities, event participation, and outcome data for grant review and reporting.

General knowledge and interest in educational, innovation, and public outreach activities. * Degree in Chemistry is preferred. * Excellent organizational, communication, and program management skills preferred.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

Work requires analytical, communications and organizational skills generally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree program.

Experience

Work requires three years of experience in program administration or involving academic, instructional or counseling activities to acquire skills necessary to plan, coordinate and implement a variety of program activities and events. OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
