SUMMARY

The Public Health Analyst II will provide evaluation and communications related services to programs and initiatives managed by the Division of Population Health.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Responsible for the integration of CNI Core Competencies into daily functions, including commitment to integrity, knowledge/quality of work, supporting financial goals of the company, initiative/motivation, cooperation/relationships, problem analysis/discretion, accomplishing goals through organization, positive oral/written communication skills, leadership abilities, commitment to Affirmative Action, reliability/dependability, flexibility, and ownership/accountability of actions taken.

Provides technical assistance to CDC Epilepsy and Alcohol Program cooperative agreement recipients.

Provides technical assistance and support to the Prevention Research Center (PRC).

Develops and disseminates annual evaluation reports, i.e., "Evaluating Communication Frames Used to Promote the Prevention of Excessive Alcohol Use."

Documents the current frames used by CDC and DP21-2105 recipients to communicate about the prevention of excessive alcohol use and evaluate their strengths and weaknesses.

Identifies key public health stakeholder audiences and develops audience profiles.

Drafts potential message frames intended to encourage support for population-level prevention strategies for each public health stakeholder audience profile.

Drafts a message evaluation plan to suggest how to best evaluate the usefulness of the draft message frames with public health stakeholders and the US adult public.

Participates in regular (monthly) calls with CDC Alcohol Program to discuss progress on this Task.

Provides Culturally Appropriate Guidance.

Provides continual support to CDC staff (project officers, evaluators and other staff) in providing culturally appropriate guidelines, resources, materials and interpretation of recipient information for various audiences.

Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to all training made available by the company.

Plans daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description and supervisor's instruction in such a way as to maximize personal output.

Responsible for keeping own immediate work area in a neat and orderly condition to ensure safety of self and co-workers. Will report any unsafe conditions and/or practices to the appropriate supervisor and human resources. Will immediately correct any unsafe conditions to the best of own ability.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Master's degree in public health or related field and a minimum of three (3) years' experience in global health, public health, or related field. High level proficiency in statistical software packages (e.g., SAS, Excel, Access). Experience in project management and multi-tasking in a fast-paced environments.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Exposed to general office noise with computers printers and light traffic.
