Duties: This Research Specialist B will work in the lab performing a variety of molecular biology techniques. Responsibilities will include Sanger sequencing, real-time PCR experiments and CNV assays as well as cloning and genotyping. Additional duties will include transfection by nucleofection of a variety cell lines and evaluate gene expression using luciferase assays. CRISPR technology, including homology-directed recombination will be used to look at the effect of enhancers on genes known to be associated with neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimers disease. Additional duties include interacting with the bioinformatics group and occasionally assisting with maintenance of the transgenic mouse colony: breeding, management and genotyping.
Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree with a major in Chemistry, Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or related field and 1-3 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required. Computer skills preferred. Experience with CRISPR technology is desirable.
