Duke University's Department of Dermatology has an immediate opening for a full-time Research Technician II in Dr. Jennifer Zhang's lab with a primary affiliation with Dermatology and secondary affiliation with Pathology.

Occupational Summary

The Zhang Lab in the Department of Dermatology at Duke is seeking creative, highly motivated, research assistant interested in working on immunological skin disorders and novel immunotherapies. This is an excellent opportunity to join a vibrant, diverse, and collaborative team of basic and translational investigators and work in a modern research facility.

Work Performed

  • Animal handling that may involve genotyping and therapeutic treatment
  • Perform protein analysis (e.g Immunohistology and Immunoblotting) and RNA analysis (RT-PCR)
  • Perform cell culture and cell growth and toxicity assays.
  • Use statistical methods (excel, GraphPad etc.) to analyze data and present the data in PowerPoint, PDF or tif/JPEG formats to other lab members in a timely manner
  • Keep electronic records of all experimental details and results, and prepare data for manuscript publication.
  • Work closely with other lab members

Preferred requirements:

  • Strong interest in life science and desire to engage in basic knowledge discovery
  • Prior experience in cell culture, animal handling, immunohistology, RT-PCR, and/or flow cytometry,
  • Ability to work independently, document, present, and discuss experimental data
  • Ability to document experimental procedures and results, and deposit electronic notebook in shared hard drive and LabArchive.
  • Teamwork spirit

Minimum Qualifications

Education

Work generally requires a bachelor's degree in botany, biology, zoology, psychology or other directly related scientific field.

Experience

None required above education/training requirement. OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
