Occupational Summary

Perform a variety of technical duties involved in animal handling, colony management, molecular techniques such as PCR, help with histological techniques and cell culture management.

Work Performed

  • · Animal handling and colony management.
  • · Perform PCR, nucleic acid modification and molecular cloning.
  • · Culture eukaryotic cells.
  • · Perform a variety of molecular, cellular, biochemical and immunological analyses.
  • · Optimize and troubleshoot experimental protocols and equipment.
  • · Design, execute, and document experiments with sufficient detail to understand and repeat by other lab members.
  • · Update lab members on new developments in commercial reagents and techniques.
  • · Learn new laboratory techniques and assist lab members as required by ongoing research project.
  • · Compile and document results, maintain lab notes, and assist in writing reports and research manuscripts.
  • · Prepare culture media, reagents and solutions. Assist in the development of new research procedures and techniques.
  • · Maintain sufficient inventory of materials, supplies and equipment for performance of duties; clean and maintain standard laboratory equipment.
  • · Assist in the training of new personnel.
  • · Duties include routine lab, equipment maintenance and work with laboratory animals (mice).

Minimum Qualifications

Education

Work generally requires a bachelor's degree inbotany, biology, zoology, psychology or other directly related scientific field.

Experience

None required above education/training requirement. OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
