Job Purpose:The security analyst position is responsible for supporting Calbright cybersecurity initiatives which include performing risk assessments, executing mitigation efforts, and developing risk metrics and reports.

Location:Remote, various locations throughout California



Position Overview


In this role, the successful candidate would be responsible for overseeing and managing security operations and compliance for all faculty/student systems. Responsibilities include troubleshooting, training, and if required, vendor escalation as well as providing written documentation of new features and functionality. Creation and recommendation of policies are a key component of this role.


Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities


The duties below are representative of the role and are not intended to cover all of the duties performed within the scope of work.


  • Participate in the planning and design of firm security architecture, under the direction of the IT Infrastructure Manager;
  • Participate in the creation of firm security documents (policies, standards, baselines, guidelines and procedures) under the direction of the IT Infrastructure Manager and the IT Director;
  • Participate in the planning and design of the firm Business Continuity Plan and Disaster Recovery Plan, under the direction of the IT Infrastructure Manager.
  • Demonstrate foresight in recognizing potential or existing security issues, vulnerabilities, and threats and work with cross functional teams to implement remediation;
  • Recommend additional security solutions or enhancements to existing security solutions to improve overall enterprise security;
  • Perform the deployment, integration and initial configuration of all new security solutions and of any enhancements to existing security solutions in accordance with standard best operating procedures generically and the enterprise's security documents specifically.
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest security intelligence, including hackers' methodologies, in order to anticipate security breaches;
  • Maintain up-to-date baselines for the secure configuration and operations of all in-place devices, whether they be under direct control (i.e., security tools) or not (i.e., workstations, servers, network devices, etc.).
  • Perform other related duties as assigned that support the objective of the position.

  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills are required to isolate problems, recommend solutions and implement solutions.
  • The ideal candidate should be a self-starter with the ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team environment
  • Demonstrate understanding of, sensitivity to, and respect for the diverse academic, socio-economic, ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds, disability, and sexual orientation of community college students, staff and faculty.


Minimum Qualifications


  • Minimum 3 years of experience in an information security and/or application security administration role;
    AND

Associate's Degree in the field of computer science, programming, engineering, or similar area;

OR


  • 5+ years of experience in an information security and/or application security administration role;

  • Enterprise security technology experience with Antivirus, DLP, SIEM, SOAR, EDR/XDR, Vulnerability/Configuration Assessment Tools, Content Filtering, Firewalls, Routing, Policies, and strong knowledge of IP, TCP/IP and networking protocols.


Desired Qualifications


  • One or more of the following certifications:
    • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
    • CompTIA Security+
    • GIAC Information Security Fundamentals (GISF)
    • CCNA
    • Associate of (ISC)2
  • 7+ years in an enterprise application security and/or information security technology administration role managing, implementing, configuring SIEM, SOAR, EDR/XDR, Vulnerability/Configuration Assessment systems.
  • Experience in a fast-paced and/or startup environment
  • Experience developing security policies, procedures, and best practices


Working Conditions and Travel


  • Calbright College is a statewide online college where all instruction and support are done via various online technologies both in person and remotely. Calbright College has administrative offices in Sacramento available for use. When working remotely, employees should be able and willing to use digital communication tools as used by the college, and have the ability to work on a computer for extended periods of time.

  • Requires the ability to function in a remote online instructional environment performing work of primarily a sedentary nature. Requires the ability to use hearing and speech to make presentations to groups and carry on conversations over the phone and in-person. Requires speaking skills to communicate with staff and students in one-on-one and small group settings, on the phone, and to distinguish sound prompts from various types of equipment. Requires near visual acuity to read printed materials and computer screens. Requires sufficient hand/arm/finger dexterity to retrieve work materials, operate a personal computer keyboard, and operate standard office equipment. Requires the ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Work is performed indoors where minimal safety considerations exist.
