Overview
At Steampunk, our goal is to build and execute a data strategy for our clients to coordinate data collection and generation, to align the organization and its data assets in support of the mission, and ultimately to realize mission goals with the strongest effectiveness possible.
For our clients, data is a strategic asset. For the our client, they are looking to become a facts-based, data-driven, customer-focused organization. To help realize this goal, they are leveraging visual analytics platforms to analyze, visualize, and share information. As a Data Scientist here at Steampunk you will design and develop on a next-generation Visual Analytics and Collaboration suite.
Contributions
- Serves as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for machine learning/artificial intelligence. Identifies business trends and problems through complex big data analysis.
- Interprets results from multiple sources using a variety of techniques, ranging from simple data aggregation via statistical analysis to complex data mining independently.
- Designs, develops, and implements the most valuable business solutions for the organization.
- Prepares big data, implements data models, and develops databases to support the business solutions.
- Works on advanced, complex technical projects or business issues requiring state of the art technical or industry knowledge.
- Leads efforts related to Social Media data exploitation, including:
- automated collection and formatting of social media and corporate network information;
- implementing graph databases to store and process entity network information;
- extracting network features to compute network-specific metrics;
- and implementing data science alorithms that enable the parsing of network data.
- Develops, deploys, and manages statistical, unsupervised, and supervised Learning Data Models with accuracy, precision, and sensitivities.
- Performs mathematical, statistical, and network modeling to organize, optimize, model, research, mine, and predict new data.
- Identifies accuracies, precision, and sensitivities.
- Validates machine learning with statistical modeling.
- Designs algorithms such as neural networks, decision trees, and surrogate models.
- Uses Data Lakes, chunking, large file shares, or increased time limits for storage needs; uses serverless computing like Athena/Lambda to handle concurrency, or increased time limits; and uses extract, transform, load standard data formats, or parsing due to lack of infrastructure.
- Oversees process and staff to manually review data and machine learning models.
- Analyzes data for accuracy, authenticity, expectancy, timeliness, relevancy, intelligence gaps, and viability.
- Experience executing in an Agile, DevSecOps environment highly desired.
- Experience in cloud (AWS, Azure, GCS) system implementations highly desired.
Qualifications - 10+ years of experience in data science field to include mathematics/statistics/programming modeling data and machine learning with a multitude of data sets; law enforcement/drug data preferred.
