Purpose

The O&M SCADA and Cyber Security Senior Manager is a critical role within Operations and Maintenance (O&M) area of the Offshore Business focusing on the strategy creation and the global standard adoption of NERC, Cybersecurity and SCADA technologies. Reporting to the Director of O&M Engineering, the O&M SCADA and Cyber Security Senior Manager will be responsible for identifying, assessing and creating standard requirements, specifications, procedures, protocols, and management systems used by the Avangrid Offshore wind (including assure they are standardized activities across the rest of the Iberdrola's group
companies).

The role is also responsible to support the Offshore O&M organization in the USA on data infrastructure giving technical support to the O&M projects' teams whilst they develop the O&M contractual requirements of the projects leading up to the operational phase. Once the projects are in the operational phase, the role holds the responsibility for providing technical expertise to contribute to the systems performance of the offshore wind farms operated by Avangrid. In addition, the role is in charge of ensuring alignment with Avangrid standards, regulations, and best practices codes.

Responsibilities

  • The role will support the O&M project readiness team on transferring O&M requirements to the construction team responsible for the engineering, procurement, and commissioning of supervisory control & data acquisition (SCADA) systems and associated communications infrastructure.
  • Will develop conceptual designs to provide strategy and guidance to multiple stakeholders.
  • Will support other offshore areas in the procurement, final detailed designs, commissioning, and acceptance testing on renewable energy projects.
  • The SCADA & IT systems of these projects may include RTACs, RTUs, plant controllers, network switches, firewalls, annunciators, and HMIs (Human Machine Interface)
  • Develop conceptual project requirements to be included in the designs that comply with all critical stakeholder and interconnection requirements.
  • Creation of conceptual block diagrams.
  • Conduct thorough reviews of detailed design drawings.
  • Organize documentation to be reused in future projects including schematics, bills of materials, and programming settings.
  • Interface with plant controller manufacturers, transmission operators, generator owners and operators to pride guidance in configuration as needed
  • Support the networking equipment coordination and configuration including specifying physical interfaces and protocols, assigning IP addresses, and administration of firewall rules
  • Support resolution of any field issues
  • Attending in-person meetings with stakeholders
  • Verify that all applicable NERC and Cybersecurity requirements are considered and fulfilled
  • Support the project team's efforts to develop the operational plans to energize, commission, and turnover projects while maintaining NERC compliance
  • Maintain up to date technical specifications.
  • Assist in the development of new projects by analyzing conceptual designs and RFI (Request for information), RFP (Request for Proposals) or RFQ (request for quotation) specifications
  • Coordinate with operations engineering and third-party customers to incorporate lessons learned into new designs
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry technology through various training sessions and conferences
  • Work closely with other areas of the Group (Iberdrola, Global Offshore, ...) to exchange best practice.

Skills and Requirements

  • Degree and professional qualification in relevant Engineering discipline or equivalent.
  • Operational experience within a utility/generation environment (preferably within the wind industry).
  • Some experience of offshore wind operations preferred.
  • Good knowledge of SCADA systems and Cyber Security inside an energy generating/power plant including apparatus and associated operational controls and compliance requirements.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in leading a team/project.
  • Developed report writing and presentation skills and ability to summarize parameters and drivers impacting the scope of works.
  • Problem solving - dealing with conflicting requirements
  • Tenacity, persistence, and determination to succeed in overcoming obstacles.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to a rapidly changing working environment.
  • Experience of working in teams involved in large projects in international environments.
  • Pro-active and diligent approach.
  • Computer literate with a good working knowledge of Microsoft office applications as a minimum.
  • Eligible to work in the US
