The Service Project Cost Leader will identify and execute projects to maximize the balance between product life cycle and maintenance cost for Freight Services Organization In this role you will influence cross-functional teams, lead innovative locomotive maintenance cost out projects with a focus on technological solutions, and be accountable for the short and long-term results of a multimillion-dollar project portfolio.

Responsibilities

In addition, you will:

  • Maintain 3 year component strategy and project pipeline for assigned material.
  • Identify productivity initiatives on propulsion components based on technical expertise of locomotive systems, and their operations.
  • Support projects through the scoping, active, and cut-in phases to successful project implementation.
  • Support a cross-functional team from Services, Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, Risk, and external suppliers to meet all project milestones (Such as tollgates, design reviews, and PPAP) ahead of schedule.
  • Facilitate communication within the team, as needed, to achieve milestones and effectively manage communications with internal / external project stakeholders.
  • Identify risks to project execution, schedule, or valuation and facilitate the mitigation of those risks with the appropriate team.
  • Continually develop a network of resources in support of project execution.
  • Identify opportunities to expand the project in ways that bring value to our customer and satisfy our profitability requirements.
  • Manage the project budget and timeline, to ensure the resources are available to complete the project within budget and on time in order to meet customer obligations.
  • Professionally represent Wabtec during all customer and supplier interactions.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferably in computer science or "STEM" majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering as it applies to locomotive product line
  • Demonstrated experience leading projects technically or in services
  • Experience in development and implementation of technological solutions
  • Willingness and ability to travel 10% of the time, both domestic and internationally
  • Strong knowledge of Propulsion & mechanical equipment of heavy machinery industry such as locomotives
  • Strong financial acumen or experience in working with accounting, finance

  • Knowledge of Transportation and Global Service processes
