ABOUT THE ROLE

We're currently looking for a Shelter Coordinator/Monitors to provide support and safety to the individuals accessing shelter in a low barrier shelter model.

The Shelter Monitor is responsible for working collaboratively with other team members and leads to ensure that all operations are running smoothly. This includes ensuring that the shelter processes-including check-in, food delivery and service, and clients' use of the sleeping area, laundry area, and bathroom-run smoothly. An important facet of this position is the ability to engage with persons served with compassion and to take initiative. The Shelter Monitor must be able to work well with others and in collaboration with volunteers and other agencies to foster a safe and inclusive shelter environment.

You'll work with all of the individuals staying in our shelters at any given time (up to 60 people), and be involved with the planning of services for the daily success of the shelter. We believe in a strengths-based approach and use positive practices to help guide all of our actions while working with people who come through our doors.

This is a team-based position. Your dependability, integrity, empathy for others (both persons served and your fellow employees), and dedication to teamwork are essential to this position.

We will train all team members on basic first aid and intervention techniques. We will also train on basic tenants of a strength based approach to care and motivational interviewing. This will help guide our work and interactions with each person coming to our shelter seeking services.

ABOUT YOU

We're looking for employees who are professional, flexible, compassionate, and can remain composed in stressful situations. You will need to meet people where they are emotionally and help meet basic human needs. Our mission is to treat every person we serve with respect and dignity while creating a safe, open, friendly space.
