Job Description:

POSITION SUMMARY:

A creative, forward-thinking, and organized Social Media Specialist who will interact with targeted virtual communities and TCSPP social media platform followers to promote TCSPP and provide social media information to new audiences. The Social Media Specialist must be able to create consistent, meaningful content on all social media platforms to advance the University's social media strategies.

This is a part-time, temporary position expected to end on May 31, 2022.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Build and execute social media strategy through research, benchmarking, messaging, and audience identification
  • Work with Communications/Public Affairs Dept. staff to write, develop, and strategize online content production and scheduling
  • Assist with crisis management, bad reviews, and negative social media posts
  • Generate, edit, post, and share content regularly (original text, images, video, and HTML)
  • Build meaningful connections and encourage community members through dialog and messaging
  • Create and maintain University social media pages and profiles
  • Moderate user-generated content and messages appropriately, based on University and community policies
  • Track and analyze analytics reports to gain insight on traffic, demographics, and effectiveness
  • Collaborate with other departments to manage the University's reputation, coordinate promotions, and increase reach
  • Perform other duties as assigned

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:

  • Strong familiarity with the business applications of social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, Instagram etc.)
  • Knowledge of project management and web design best practices
  • Understanding of social media metrics; able to interpret the results and take action to increase effectiveness of social media campaigns
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
