We are looking for a Backend Software Engineer to be a key contributor to our backend image processing pipeline. The individual filling this position will collaborate with product owners and multidisciplinary engineering teams to analyze, develop, and maintain the software that supports downlink of satellite data, image formation, and QA analytics.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build, test, and maintain applications that perform parallel data ingestion and validation, automate quality assurance models, and generate usable imagery from raw radar data
  • Help establish and adhere to DevOps practices that ensure that customer and satellite-operational needs are met with quality and performance
  • Be actively engaged in and contribute to team processes, including project planning, bug triage, and retrospectives

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience in a relevant discipline
  • A record of self-learning and motivation with entry-level experience in Python, relational databases, and web services
  • Demonstrated foundational understanding of software architecture and automated testing patterns
  • Familiarity with code versioning tools, such as Git
  • Good communications skills, ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, and willingness to learn new skills and technology

Things to Know or Be Willing to Learn
  • Experience debugging low-level problems such as memory and thread issues
  • Experience with asynchronous programming in Python, PostgreSQL, FastAPI, and Docker
  • Experience working on a team that uses agile software project management
  • Experience debugging issues in production systems based on metrics and logs
