Job Summary:

Configures, installs, maintains, upgrades, monitors, troubleshoots, repairs and optimizes computer systems hardware and software. Ensures the overall effectiveness of components. Evaluates, recommends, and implements cost effective improvements that will increase utility, functionality, and/or effectiveness of said components.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • LUN creation, masking and provisioning experience
  • Fabric Zoning with EMC provided tools
  • SAN management experience / troubleshooting SAN errors / SAN Security best practices.
  • Administration of Brocade fabric network
  • Fiber channel cable management / troubleshooting cable errors
  • Implements, analyzes, maintains, customizes, supports and tests components within the assigned technical area(s).
  • Provides, reviews or assists in the creation of and evaluations of suggested hardware/software configurations pertinent to the assigned technical area.
  • Provides evaluation of proposals and/or projects pertinent to assigned technical area(s)
  • Monitors, evaluates and reports the ongoing performance and capacity of components within the assigned technical area to ensure business needs are met. Recommends enhancements as they pertain to the(se) area(s) based upon known capabilities and projected future demands within the technical areas. Manage the SAN documentation and diagrams repository.
  • Participates in evaluating hardware and software technology against existing, future and anticipated needs. May recommend enhancements to the computing environment in order to provide cost effective solution to problems or processes.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Level Specifications:
  • Extensive knowledge and application of principles, theories and concepts. Complete knowledge of all job functions and the broad industry best practices, techniques and standards.
  • Develops solutions to complex problems where analysis of situations and/or data requires in-depth evaluation of variables. Determine best approach to achieve results and provide suggestions to improve policies and procedures.
  • Vendor management in regards to upgrades, support, and problem escalation.
  • Work is performed independently and requires the exercise of judgment and discretion. Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments. Work may be reviewed at a high-level.
  • May represent the organization as a primary contact on assignments and/or projects providing global support when necessary. Interacts with senior professionals and management and frequently coordinates work between departments or organizations.
  • Actions may impact the organization. Failure to accomplish work will result in the inability to reach crucial organizational goals. Erroneous decisions may have a prolonged effect resulting in the expenditure of substantial resources.
  • Administration oversight and implementation skills for storage hardware migrations

Work Experience:
  • Typically 5+ years with bachelor's or equivalent.

Education and Certification(s):
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience from which comparable knowledge and job skills can be obtained.

Distinguishing Characteristics:
  • Dell/EMC storage administration skillsets
