VCA South Shore (Weymouth) Animal Hospital is seeking a skilled individual to work with our team of doctors in our ICU at our hybrid, 24-hour emergency/multi-specialty practice in South Weymouth, Massachusetts.

• Flexible schedules and availability to work weekends and some holidays are required, however, we respect the importance of a healthy work-life balance, creating schedules that are fair and equal.
• You will also be paid for holidays that fall on a scheduled workday, even if you are home celebrating! Pay commensurate with experience in the range of $19.50-$23.

What is an ICU Liaison?

An ICU Liaison is the point person who helps bridge the communication between the doctor and the client.

The ICU Liaison will work in tandem with the doctor as needed to ensure there is a direct line of communication between the client and the doctor.

The ICU Liaison will provide a clear expectation of what to expect during the patient's stay, from presentation to discharge. Keeping the owner informed during every step, as well as maintaining communications with the front desk, technicians, emergency doctors and primary veterinarian as needed.

The ICU Liaison will field and facilitate incoming phone calls for the doctor, and provide a point of contact for pet owners, and referring veterinarians.

The ICU Liaison will also give clients progress reports, fill prescriptions as needed, and assist with owners visiting their hospitalized pets.

The ICU Liaison will prepare pets for their discharge from the hospital and insure that everything the client needs to care for their pet at home is communicated, prepared and arranged.

The ICU Liaison will manage medical records, reports, and log correspondence with clients.

The ICU Liaison will help guide clients dealing with euthanasia by walking them through the process before, and by finalizing afterlife care.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience working in veterinary facility or a medical facility necessary.
• Medical terminology skills and knowledge of various procedures, medication names and uses preferred.
• Strong attendance, punctuality and time management a must
• Telephone and computer skills are necessary
• Excellent communication skills
• Effectively present medical and financial information to clients and employees
• Friendly, outgoing, and detail oriented
• Capable of being cross trained - This requires the ability to lift up to 40 lbs. and be exposed to hazards such as allergies, contagious diseases, noises, bites, and odors.
• A team player and eager to learn new things
• Display compassion for pets and people
• Ability to work in a very active, fast-paced environment
• Ability to work non-traditional hours of varying shifts - including nights, weekends, and holidays
