The Division of Rheumatology in the Department of Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Associate or Full Professor position in the non-tenure academic clinician track. Rank will be commensurate with experience. Applicants must have an M.D. or equivalent degree. Applicants should be ABIM certified or eligible in Rheumatology.

The Vice Chief for Clinical Affairs for the Division of Rheumatology will be the physician charged with ensuring quality outcomes and metrics, patient satisfaction, efficient operations, and compliance with University of Pennsylvania Health System and Clinical Practices of the University of Pennsylvania regulations and regulatory agency standards. The Vice Chief will serve as the Rheumatology representative for divisional clinical activities to the Department of Medicine and throughout University of Pennsylvania Health System entities.

The Vice Chief will work with the Division Chief, Division Director of Administration, and Operations Managers to ensure the Division of Rheumatology delivers outstanding and compassionate care to all patients seen within the Division. They will ensure that clinical operations are managed within the target budget and to identify opportunities to reduce expenses and increase revenue. The Vice Chief will assess programmatic needs, including personnel and capital, and identify strategic and marketing opportunities as they arise. The Vice Chief will be directly engaged in strategic planning for the Musculoskeletal and Rheumatology Service Line.

In addition to the administrative duties as Vice Chief, this position will include substantive roles in clinical care and medical education.

Clinical responsibilities may include caring for patients within the University of Pennsylvania Health System with a variety of rheumatic diseases, including through sub-specialty programs for lupus, myositis, rheumatoid arthritis, scleroderma, Sjögren's syndrome, spondyloarthritis, and vasculitis, and a multidisciplinary Musculoskeletal Center.

Teaching responsibilities may include teaching medical students, residents and fellows. The academic clinician track requires 100 credits per year of active and high quality teaching.
