Caterpillar is hiring an Account Manager for our Excavation Original Equipment Manufacturer (EXD-OEM) customers. As the Account Manager you will be developing and supporting new OEM customers to grow the EXD-OEM business in North America. This role will require management and cultivation of new accounts against a sales volume and revenue target. The successful candidate will be Americas-North main point of contact for new EXD-OEM customers, addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and proactively identifying opportunities for growth and improvement for Caterpillar's highest volume and most globally diverse product families.

What You'll Do (Job Duties)

Account Management & Sales Execution

  • Develop and maintain effective internal partner relationships and relationships with major customers (OEMs and Dealers) to ensure sales objectives are achieved.
  • Provide monthly input for S&OP process for proper production planning.
  • Develop and implement territory plan to identify key growth industries, new customers, and marketing strategies.
  • Manage opportunities, quotes, contacts, and touch points in Salesforce.
  • Provide complete customer application and configuration requirements to OEM engineering.
  • Attend Caterpillar Dealer and District meetings to communicate EXD-OEM's capabilities and value to the enterprise.
  • Travel in the field to monitor and resolve issues regarding customer satisfaction and future product needs.
  • Ensure each account decision maker has been fully exposed to the features/benefits available from Caterpillar products, dealer, and marketing before they finalize purchasing decisions.
Technology & Product Development Support
  • Grow OEM specific Software enabled Attachments to new OEM customers.
  • Provide OEM VOC for SEA improvements and development.

What You Have (Skills & Experience)
  • Previous account management, machine sales, industry marketing or product support engineering experience
  • Effective communication and relationship building skills
  • Value selling experience with strong decision making and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to thrive and be successful in a fast paced, global business unit
Top Candidates Will Also Have
  • In-depth knowledge of hydraulic excavators or in-depth knowledge with onboard construction equipment technology (grade systems, semi-autonomy, ease-of-use, etc.)
  • Strong project management skills
  • Strong ability to balance customer, dealer and enterprise priorities
  • Voice of customer (VOC) experience
  • Experience working in a cross-culture environment
  • Ability to work independently with considerable freedom of action
  • College or university degree, preferably in business, engineering or marketing
Work Location & Territory Details:
  • Work Location: Peoria, Illinois
  • Territory: North America
  • Domestic relocation support is available to Peoria. IL
  • Expected travel is up to 30% domestically with the occasional opportunity for international travel
  • More travel may be required upfront with onboarding to the role, but 30% will be typical beyond this initial onboarding timeframe
