The Keystone Job Corps Center provides students with the opportunity to earn their High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED), and hands-on training in the following areas: Certified Nurse Assistant, Clinical Medical Assistant, Medical Administration Assistant, Patient Care Technician, Plumbing, Painting, Security and Protective Services, HVAC, Landscaping, Electrical, and Building Construction Technology.

The role of an Outreach and Admissions Counselor is to identify, recruit, and enroll eligible young adults into the Keystone Job Corps program. They are responsible for promoting the program's mission and ensuring that young people have access to valuable education and vocational training opportunities. This is a crucial role that helps young adults to achieve their goals and build a better future for themselves.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Outreach and Recruitment:
    • Develop and implement outreach strategies to identify potential Job Corps candidates in the local community.
    • Collaborate with local schools, community organizations, and agencies to promote Job Corps services.
    • Attend job fairs, community events, and other outreach activities to attract potential participants.
  • Eligibility Determination:
    • Screen and assess individuals to determine their eligibility for the Job Corps program based on established criteria.
    • Explain program requirements, benefits, and career pathways to interested candidates.
  • Counseling and Guidance:
    • Provide counseling and guidance to prospective participants, helping them understand the program's offerings and the steps needed for enrollment.
    • Address any questions or concerns potential participants may have.
  • Documentation and Enrollment:
    • Maintain accurate records of all outreach and recruitment activities, including participant information and eligibility documentation.
    • Assist eligible candidates with the enrollment process, including completing necessary paperwork and facilitating orientation.
  • Follow-Up and Retention:
    • Maintain contact with enrolled participants to ensure their successful transition into the Job Corps program.
    • Address any issues or barriers that may arise during the enrollment and orientation process.
  • Community Engagement:
    • Foster positive relationships with local stakeholders, such as schools, community leaders, and social service agencies.
    • Promote Job Corps as a valuable resource for youth development within the community.
  • Reporting and Data Management:
    • Prepare and submit regular reports on outreach and admissions activities to program management.
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date participant records in accordance with program guidelines.

    Qualifications

    Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree in counseling, social work, education, or a related field (preferred).
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Knowledge of Job Corps program regulations and eligibility criteria (training provided).
    • Experience in outreach, recruitment, or counseling is advantageous.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Familiarity with local community resources and organizations is a plus.
    • Proficiency in using computer applications and databases for record-keeping.
