Position Summary:The Advancement Operations Associate is responsible for supporting the process of data-driven decision making to improve the effectiveness of North Central College's fundraising and engagement activities. This position will report to the Director of Development and will provide reliable and timely quantitative data aligned with the College's philanthropic activities including, but not limited to, the annual solicitation and engagement sequence, gift processing, and ongoing assurance of data integrity and accuracy.The Advancement Operations Associate is a key cross-functional partner within the Office of Institutional Advancement and will support the Director of Development in all aspects of the College's fundraising and engagement initiatives by providing critical insights and applying data analytics to better understand fundraising progress and results.
Description of Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Director of Development in creating an efficient and effective data-driven philanthropic activity management system, and developing the data-based solutions to support key fundraising initiatives and campaigns.
- Provide fundraising and engagement analytics as needed to help the College assess philanthropic performance and adherence to stewardship best practices. Examples include but are not limited to: monthly performance reports, proactive prospect recommendations, analysis and reporting on pledge reminders, scholarship fund reports & reconciliation of academic department restricted funds.
- Understand the data structures within CRM Advance to audit and monitor data elements for consistency and accuracy and compliance with the North Central College fundraising policy.
- Partner with Advancement Services to ensure integrity of gift processing and application of best practices and gift acceptance policy as well as proper reporting and recognition. Provide assistance in gift entry/data management and maintain online giving forms as needed.
- In partnership with others on the Institutional Advancement team, monitor and manage a stage aging/moves management system based upon targeted research that drives mutually agreed upon cultivation and solicitation strategies for donors and prospects.
- Conduct research to identify and qualify annual and major gift prospects in response to specific requests made by the President, the VP for Institutional Advancement, the Executive Director of Institutional Advancement and others. Partner with fundraisers to help create donor overview briefs and/or donor profiles while maintaining standards of privacy and confidentiality with all data.
- Manage existing dashboards and reports that pertain to Institutional Advancement operations and individual Gift Officer productivity and performance analysis, and assess portfolio penetration, proposal yield rates, and stage aging on a regular basis.
- Conduct fundraising trend and regression analyses and forecast expected outcomes. As part of fundraising trend and gift analysis, collaborate with the entire Advancement Team to ensure accuracy of data entry and enforce good data entry practices.
- Stay current with computer technology, best practices, and research methodologies, as well as news and other trends that impact fundraising, prospect management and research.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to retrieve, compile, and synthesize large amounts of information into concise and coherent reports and input data into College's database. It is critical to complete these processes with integrity while maintaining privacy and confidentiality standards.
- Ability to apply statistical methods to analyze vast donor and gift data pulled from database.
- Strong creativity, and problem-solving skills utilizing critical thinking and conceptual thinking.
- Must be able to create, review, and edit comprehensive reports and analytics with attention to accuracy and detail.
- Excellent writing skills, superior attention to detail, and inquisitive nature.
- Ability to consistently demonstrate outstanding interpersonal skills in dealing with persons both internal and external to the College.
- Much of the information dealt with by this individual is of a personal and confidential nature, so the ability to exercise discretion in all matters and to adhere precisely to legally required constraints and to specific College policies regarding release of information is essential.
- Independent judgment and initiative required. Must continually demonstrate a proactive approach. It is important to be able to proactively identify areas of opportunity for growth and process improvement.
- Ability to, at times, work effectively within groups where membership and leadership may not be constant.
- Computer proficiency using Microsoft Office and the ability to adapt and incorporate new technologies required.

The Advancement Associate will play a critical role in preparing for the next comprehensive campaign. They will possess critical thinking and project management skills, will be inquisitive, communicate effectively, take initiative to solve problems through iterative learning and will demonstrate a growth mindset. A keen interest in learning and continuous skill refinement is a requirement. Attention to detail, as well as a strong teamwork skills, will make the candidate successful.Ongoing professional development can be expected and this position will work at times that are other than, or in addition to normal business hours. This may include travel and attending events during evening hours and on weekends.
Education/Training:Bachelor's Degree Required
Experience:Experience with and strategic use of advanced CRM tools, manipulating, and retrieving data is preferred. Experience and expertise in advanced Excel functions is highly desired. Ideally, work related experience will have been gained in a complex, national, non-profit organization with a significant base (300k +) of members and donors. Prior experience involving raising funds through multiple channels with complex donor segmentation and data metrics is preferred.
