The Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Iowa is seeking to hire an Application Developer to administer, manage, and coordinate the continued implementation of clinical trials management systems (CTMS) in the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center; including Advarra's OnCore and eRegulatory management system (eReg) , a suite of Oncology research management programs. This position will serve as a resource and educator for all clinical trial staff, faculty, and HCCC administration; assisting in mandatory reporting requirements and data requests from HCCC leadership and faculty.

  • Serve as primary point of application support for Advarra eRegulatory management system (eReg) for oncology clinical trials. Follow standard operating procedures to coordinate and manage internal and external user access requests.
  • Work closely with all clinical trial management staff to assist in trouble shooting and proper use of the OnCore system. Seek feedback on the functionality of the OnCore system with end users and work with Advarra in identifying areas for improvement.
  • Identify internal system solutions and work process modification to meet data management requirements. Review and analyze software defects, implementing fixes when appropriate. Plan and implements server, database, and network solutions.
  • Serve as the HCCC OnCore representative in the Onsemble Consortium and to software developers and customer support staff at Advarra. Consult with Advarra personnel on product enhancements and modifications.
  • Prepare and assist in the development of required Cancer Center reports and other reports as requested by faculty and administration, including standard reports for core grant. Coordinate and aid in the submission of required data as mandated by national cancer groups.
  • Oversee implementation of the application and database upgrades and coordinate on-site evaluation of new upgrades on the test environment. Provide feedback to developers on new functionality.
  • Assist in the design and maintenance of web site content for HCCC supported clinical trials assuring appropriate HCCC clinical trial information is accessible to UIHC staff, referring physicians and the general public.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of user-oriented training and documentation. Assist in development of SOPs related to OnCore processes and functionality. Monitor the quality assurance of data within OnCore.
  • Provide user support with a high level of attention to detail, following designed workflow processes. Training and support delivered via online meetings. Initiate follow-up via email and phone to users.
  • Represent HCCC on institutional committees, assisting in planning integration of other systems.
  • Participate in the development of general goals for Clinical Research Services.
  • Provide oversight to projects as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, MIS or information technology related field or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years in application development and support.
  • Ability to work independently with strong focus on customer service.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Experience in teaching non-technical staff one-on-one or in small group setting.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Experience supporting biomedical research.
  • Experience working with OnCore clinical trials management system.
  • Experience with clinical applications, experience with SQL, Microsoft Access, Jasper iReports, Oracle and relational database designs.
  • Knowledge of regulatory guidelines and procedures.
  • Knowledge of University of Iowa policies and procedures.
