Job Description:


POSITION: Full-Time Associate Director, Center for Accessibility Resources & Services: Associate Director; Center for Accessibility Resources & Services; Haverhill and Lawrence Campus; 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday 9:00am - 5:00pm, (Consideration for 1 day of remote work after 3 months in position); Non-Unit Professional Position


SUMMARY: The Associate Director provides administrative and supervisory oversight of the eligibility process and the provision of services and accommodations to students with documented disabilities. Reviews disability documentation and makes determination about eligibility. Supervises Disability Services Specialists.


In collaboration with Director, responsible for assisting with, program development, staff and faculty development, recruitment/retention activities and policy development and implementation, and grant preparation. Provides case management services to students with documented disabilities.


RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Oversees services provided to students with documented disabilities to ensure provision of quality services and reasonable accommodations i.e. Request for Services process, eligibility process, documentation review, accommodation determination, faculty mediation and student support.
  • Provides Supervision of Disability Services Specialists.
  • Facilitates Accommodation Planning Meeting - plans, leads meeting, determines students to review, and keeps track of other agenda items or projects.
  • Reviews documentation to determine eligibility and accommodations. Follows up with high schools and medical providers when more information is needed.
  • Performs overall case management services and provides individual support to students with documented disabilities.
  • Provide leadership role in developing collaborative relationship with other college departments to increase academic success, retention, disability awareness, adherence with ADAAA/504 and ensure equal access for students with disabilities.
  • Work closely with Director related to program and staff development, recruitment/retention activities and policy/procedure development and implementation.
  • Primary responsibility for compilation of statistics each semester on students served and services provided.
  • Act as a resource and provide education, consultation, and training to faculty, staff, and administrators regarding servicing students with disabilities.
  • Develops and maintains positive relationships with community agencies and high schools.
  • Participates in Special Projects as needed.
  • Provides coverage for Director in her absence.
  • May serve on the NECC Care and Concern Team as a backup or member when time permits.
  • Serves on other college committees as assigned.
  • Assists with grant preparation
  • Attends professional trainings and workshops relevant to position.
  • Participates in Professional Development activities.


Requirements:


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Master's Degree in Education, Rehabilitation Counseling, Special Education or related field.
  • 7 years of experience working within disability services management or related field.
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Amendment Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of the laws governing disability services in higher education.
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge in policy and program development.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and facilitating disability awareness training.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal, organizational, and administrative skills.
  • Demonstrated experience collaborating with a diverse group of people.
  • Ability to travel between Haverhill and Lawrence campuses.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Ability to work well under the demands of an academic timetable; to manage and prioritize a variety of tasks; and to work independently.
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of assistive technology used to support individuals with disabilities.
  • Experience with supervision.
  • Computer skills, including experience with Banner (by Oracle), Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English)
  • Experience working with and supporting a culturally diverse population

BACKGROUND CHECK: Candidates will be required to pass a CORI and SORI check as a condition of employment.



Additional Information:


SALARY: Anticipated starting salary range is $83,000 - $88,000 annually with complete fringe benefit package including competitive health insurance, dental insurance, basic life insurance, long-term disability insurance, paid sick, vacation and personal leave, educational benefits for employee/spouse/dependents, and excellent retirement benefits.
