Come join Meta's growing legal vertical dedicated to supporting Meta's enterprise-wide compliance with regulations and risk management related to the environment, health and safety, hardware compliance, accessibility and sustainability.The ideal candidate will have expertise in environmental and health and safety regulations in the U.S. and foundational understanding of corresponding international requirements. This individual will also manage related risks in commercial transactions. The ideal candidate will also demonstrate a track record of strong performance managing a high volume of diverse matters and an aptitude for working with a broad range of stakeholders.

Associate General Counsel, Infrastructure EHS Responsibilities:

  • Work with worldwide Meta partners in the management of environmental and health and safety requirements across the lifecycle and value chain of Meta's global infrastructure (focusing on fiber networks)
  • Partner with cross-functional teams on related international transactions
  • Support the implementation and scaling of global environmental and health and safety programs pertaining to Meta's fiber network projects (both subsea and terrestrial)


Minimum Qualifications:

  • J.D. degree (or foreign equivalent) and membership in at least one U.S. state bar
  • 8+ years of experience counseling on environmental and health and safety legal requirements and transactional risks
  • Experience advising on the design and implementation of health and safety programs
  • Experience advising and training diverse populations
  • Experience working in dynamic and rapidly changing environments
  • Experience drafting, negotiating and advising on compliance related provisions of contracts


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience informing and supporting the development and deployment of global EHS management systems
  • Experience counseling on complex project permitting and regulatory requirements domestically, internationally and in international waters
  • Experience counseling on compliance in both emerging markets and highly regulated environments
  • Experience counseling on fiber infrastructure projects, both subsea and terrestrial (or analogous industry/linear projects, e.g. oil and gas infrastructure)
  • Experience counseling "beyond compliance" and informing decisions where Meta's cutting-edge work gets ahead of traditional regulatory constructs
  • Experience managing outside counsel and consultants to meet project timelines and expectations
  • Experience with strategic and an out-of-the-box approach to compliance counseling
  • A mix of both law firm and in-house experience
  • Interpersonal skills and a commitment to professionalism and collegiality
