SUMMARY

Rochester Regional Health, an integrated health system located in Upstate NY is seeking a Board Certified Emergency Medicine Physician to serve as Associate Medical Director in one of our Eastern Region hospitals, Newark Wayne Community Hospital.

Overview

Assists the Chair, Newark Wayne Community Hospital, Emergency Department in carrying out the following duties;

  • Expected Administrative compliment of 0.2 FTE
  • Responsible for daily operations of the hospital's emergency department
  • Works collaboratively with hospital's nurse manager, nursing staff, chief nursing officer, and emergency department administrative and support staff
  • Assumes and discharges all responsibilities required by hospital for the professional direction, and clinical supervision and management of hospital's emergency department
Key Responsibilities

Clinical Domain
  • Develops and implements, in collaboration with emergency medicine leadership, standards and protocols consistent with best practice
  • Directly supervises and has responsibility for physicians and advanced practice providers in clinical and assigned administrative duties in the hospital's emergency department
  • Ensures meeting of all policy and regulatory requirements, including OPPE and FPPE
  • Provides assistance in strategic planning and implementation of emergency medicine throughout Rochester Regional Health
Quality and Patient Safety
  • Works to standardize protocols, processes and pathways for emergency patients throughout the system
  • Establishes a set of data that can be collected to evaluate the performance of the hospital's emergency department
  • Supports and directs the quality improvement activities of the department
  • Provides regular updates to the emergency department quality committee and system chair of emergency medicine
  • Manages patient complaints and incorporates related issues into process improvement
  • Develops clinical, functional and patient/physician satisfaction outcomes tools to evaluate emergency department performance and improve program quality
  • Leads patient safety and quality initiatives specific to the hospital's emergency department
  • Ensures the ethical practice of emergency medicine within the department
Teaching and Education
  • Serves as the hospital's emergency spokesperson as appropriate, including media relations
  • Oversees the education of medical students, advanced practice provider students and residents rotating through the department
  • Establishes policies for hospital emergency medicine departmental orientation, continuing education, training and in-service for professional staff
Regulatory Compliance
  • Oversees activities to obtain appropriate accreditation for the hospital's emergency department
  • Monitors correctness and appropriateness of the medical records and implements corrective intervention as required in association with hospital's medical records and quality assurance mechanisms
Operational
  • Schedules and completes payroll for physicians and advanced practice providers in the hospital's emergency department, with the appropriate level of administrative support to be provided by hospital
  • Consults with hospital administration to discuss departmental organization, rules, regulations, policies, procedures, operations, performance concerns, problem solving and opportunities for improvement
  • Directs outreach to regional EMS organizations
Financial
  • Accountable for budgets and resources to support function/program/department needs, productivity, and cost-effective operations
  • Supports service line director and system chair to create and manage an annual hospital's emergency strategic plan, operating/capital budget, and comprehensive marketing plan
Leadership
  • Directs hospital's meetings, including monthly provider meeting, including maintaining meeting minutes and attendance
  • Oversees activities of the hospital's emergency advanced practice providers
  • Maintains ongoing review of professional competencies and performance of all practitioners with hospital's emergency medicine clinical privileges at hospital, including conformance of clinical practice to the scope of each practitioner's credentials, training and privileges
  • Subscribes to the tenents of customer satisfaction and assists others in the department to improve their performance
  • Liaison with referring hospital's providers in the community
  • Enforces the bylaws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures of hospital and its medical and dental staff, as they may exist from time to time and as they relate to the hospital's emergency department
  • Attends medical staff committee and administrative meetings relating to the operation of the hospital's emergency department or as may be required by Hospital or its medical and dental staff bylaws, rules, regulations, policies or procedures
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Completion of residency program
  • One to two years' experience relevant practice
Required Licensure/Certification Skills:
  • Board certification in specialty required, Emergency Medicine
  • New York State license
  • Current PALS/NRP certifications
Pay Transparency

In addition to the base pay range, certain provider positions may be eligible for variable compensation in accordance with health system pay practices. This may include: productivity and/or value based clinical incentives, bonus compensation, or other forms of variable pay.

  • Physician - New York State Education Department (NYSED)
PAY RANGE: $300,000.00 - $400,000.00

The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for successful applicants. It may be modified in the future. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
