HOURS:40 hours a week, requires working evening including some weekends and holidays

MAJOR FUNCTION: The Athletics and Campus Recreation Manager assists in providing analysis and continual assessment of athletics operations and works closely with coaches, the Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA), and the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) to ensure the College is in compliance with Title IX, the Florida Educational Equity Act, and FERPA. Communicates NJCAA by-law changes and those from the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) that impact two-year institutions to head coaches and admissions staff. Assist in developing compliance and eligibility procedures while also submitting eligibility for each team to ensure compliance with NJCAA rules. Plans, schedules, and monitors the use of all athletic facilities by the intercollegiate athletics department and community organizations. Assists coaches in scheduling and maintains a master schedule of all athletic-related events. Coordinates and manages game day operations for home athletic events, including media relations, security, ticket sales, and concessions. Supervise, direct and evaluate operations, programs and services delivered through Campus Recreation and Lifetime Sports, including fitness center/gym, aerobics/dance rooms, gym courts, personal training, health and wellness programs, and intramurals and club sports.

Primary duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Schedules and coordinate operations of the Lifetime Sports Complex. This includes, but not limited to: staffing, preventative maintenance, facility set-up, minor repairs and the compliance with standards and procedures for state, local and college policy, rules and regulations. Selects, trains, supervises, evaluates, and certifies (CPR/First Aid) all Campus Recreation, intramural, and Lifetime Sports professional, part-time and student staff.

  • Directly responsible for the planning, coordination and implementation of the Campus Recreation and Intramural programming, operations and services, including leadership development, marketing and promotions, evaluation of programs, purchasing of recreation equipment, development of rental rate scales for Lifetime Sports equipment as well as community-based cooperative programs. Conducts official's training clinics, creates, updates and revises employee training manuals.

  • Oversees, projects, supervises and implements prudent management of budget and budgetary resources for all operations, services and programs. Develops, plans, and implements risk management, liability and safety policies, procedures, protocols, reporting structures and manuals.

  • Assists in the development, short-range and long-range planning, implementation and evaluation of Lifetime Sports programs in cooperation with the Department of Physical Education faculty, Athletics, the Department of Student Services, Conference and Events, and other college officials. Speak to classes and at orientation about the Department of Student Services, Campus Recreation and Intramural Sports about the positive effects of being involved in extracurricular activities. Attends and presents at workshops and conferences. Maintains professional membership with NIRSA and attends professional conferences.

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Sports Management, Physical/Health Education, Student Personnel or related field and two (2) years of work experience. A Master's degree in Higher Education Administration, Recreation, Management, College Student Personnel, or a related area is preferred and may substitute for one year of the required experience. Also requires experience with budget development, management, and fiscal reporting. Experience hosting and managing successful events and supervising staff are also required. New hires must possess CPR/First Aid Certification or be able to obtain instructor rating within first six months of employment. Progressive leadership and administrative experience within a college's Student Affairs Department and Athletics is highly preferred.

SUCCESSFUL APPLICANTS WILL DEMONSTRATE THE FOLLOWING: Knowledge of TCC Policies and Procedures. Knowledge and ability to operate the weight room equipment. Knowledge to organize game day operations and gym set-ups for home basketball events and graduation. Knowledge of personal training techniques, assessments and certification exams. Knowledge of basic student record keeping principles. Knowledge of fitness programs and equipment including instruction, safety, maintenance and operations. Knowledge of and ability to promote and implement Student Activity Programs. Knowledge and ability to handle money collections. Project, recommend, and manage a budget; this includes but is not limited to staffing, maintenance, and activity needs. Personal computer skills. Skills in the use of computer software: Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel, Adobe Photoshop. Skills in the use of internet, Intramural web page. Skill in the use of email, voicemail, phone (multi-line), cellular phone, two-way radio, E Z Go cart & drive motor vehicles. Ability to schedule, coordinate and manage the Lifetime Sports facility, staff and events. Ability to plan, organize, direct and coordinate work assignments. Ability to train and evaluate student leaders and student staff. Ability to purchase equipment and maintain an inventory. Ability to work independently. Ability to coordinate programs for students and public. Ability to physically move 2,000 lbs. basketball goals.
